Yeah, that argument doesn't wash with me. Trying to point to someone else's alleged bad behavior to justify your own? It's a form of moral equivalency and is an EPIC FAIL! Don't even need to say anything else.
I was at the game and can confirm that WVU fans are the worst I have ever come across. We were tailgating with a group of maybe 10-15 LSU fans some with kids under 10 years old and stuff thrown at us and heard some of the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. At 1 point we had to involve the police because the scene was getting outta control. We left with about 6 mins left and from what I heard the WVU fans who stayed till the end only stayed to look for a fight. I would expect this if it were a game against Pitt or another of their rivals, I have ZERO respect for any of their fans after this weekend
Wow, that article discusses the existence of a shooting and suggests that there were a fair amount of problems. That's too bad.
FWIW, consider me the Devil's Advocate, I guess. The booing of the down players was ridiculous, and showed more stupidity and ignorance than anything when they booed T-Bob. That said, we tailgated in the purple lot, which was a small area about a 3/4 mile walk from the stadium. At least during our time taligating, we experienced nothing but perfect hospitality. Every single fan greeted us with "Welcome to Morgantown", thanking us for coming, and fully respectful of the opportunity to play LSU. They fed us, we fed them, and I didn't see one single instance of rude behavior. And the WVU girls around us were for the most part very hot...nice hind ends were prevalent, and they all seemed to have good teeth, surprisingly enough. Then we had to walk into the stadium. THAT was ridiculous!! The 'fans' near the stadium were extremely rude and hostile, and I can certainly see how any LSU fan that tailgated in that area would have nothing good to say about WVU, their fans, their program, the State of West Virginia, etc... Oh, and if you ever get the chance, check out New River Canyon. BEAUTIFUL!!!
My wife and I attended the game and I have to say that 95% of the fans we came across were very respectful. The other 5% were severely inebriated and were showing their frustration of being down my 20 at the half. That type of shouting and name calling was expected. The fans we spoke with asked us how we were being treated, spoke highly of their experience in Baton Rouge last year, discussed college football intellectually, and told us great game and congratulations on the win after the game. They also thanked us for coming and wished us safe travels home. I am counting my blessings that our experience was as positive as it was considering the other reports we are receiving. The booing of our players was completely classless and is to be expected when your head coach is shown multiple times shouting BS, MF and many other expletives. Should his behavior continue I would have to think Oliver Luck would be inclined to make a change. Regardless of the fan base there is always a percentage that acts inappropriately and all fans should not be encompassed under the same umbrella. I distinctly remember being at the Ole Miss game in '08 when Jarrett was injured and our fans cheered because they wanted Jordan to play. Just saying...
