I was driven to express my thoughts after seeing a lot of overreaction and questioning of the hire in comment sections around the web. People are very passionate about this team. It's easy for these things to get quickly blown out of proportion. I know this board is visited by knowledgeable and sensible Tiger Fans. That's why I chose to post my thoughts here rather than anywhere else. Geaux Tigers!

Well, there's your first mistake. You're right though, it's all or nothing with them. Any type of criticism even constructive is an act of treason to them.
I know I get radical and dramatic too, it's all based on emotion. We all want this team to be successful, even @Taint himself does. I try and stay off here on Saturday nights when the booze has been flowing too.
I think it was more of a mis-diagnosis of where this team really fit in the pecking order. We, well most, of us thought we were a good team that just needed an offense to be great. We were wrong! This team is not last years team as far as talent and development. As @tirk said in another thread, we are in a rebuilding mode. Most did not see it and are feeling the disappointment in unfulfilled expectations. We were made to believe through the recruiting rankings that we had more talent than we do. As I said in the game thread, it reminds me of a ponzi scheme were it comes crashing down at some point. I think time and development is needed for us to climb back to the top, just enjoy the climb and avoid expected wins. We are not guaranteed any wins this year!
