I'm not sure why the comparison to Spurrier would be considered a bad thing. I like the fire that Miles has; I'll bet it inspires the players.

one of the main media points was that the comments may make it more likely to lose some games. although i think they were mostly referring to games vs pac10 teams, if lsu loses to vatech there'll be some posters griping about clm's comments
