This is a real funny thread when you consider that we will have a new starting QB. I understand he has some game experience but its a lot easier playing in one or two games a year versus starting every week for obvious reasons. I think we are a little green at wide receiver. Please keep in mind that I haven't really studied or kept up with our depth chart after this past season. Its getting closer to football season so I will soon look at the situation.
If you look around the SEC, the majority of the QB's have question marks around them. Flynn did a great job in the bowl game, can he make it through the season. Ainge has experience, but they are going to a no-huddle offense. Can he handle it? Can Tebow make the adjustment to running their offense, specifically, finding receivers. I'd say Nickson (Vandy) and Woodson (UK) could be called experienced. Who is going to be the QB at South Carolina? SOS played 3 last year, one graduated. Can Hennig at MSU move his game up? Who is the QB a Ole Miss? Cox is a good QB. But, like Flynn, what happens if he takes the "proverbial shot?" Casey Dick. He's played a few games, but was jerked pretty quick last year.
Flynn will be just as good as any other QB in the SEC other than Woodson. We may be green at WR, but we have so much talent there we should find guys that can step up. We also have JUCO commit Demetrius Byrd coming in. I think defense will be better than last year. Who ever replaces Chase Pittman should be better. I think Steltz will be a better SS than Daniels and Curtis Taylor isnt much of a drop off from Landry.
So does RP have any chance of starting after that underage incident? I at least hope we try to use him as a Tim Tebow type thing
We dont need him to start this season. He will start next season, unless he gets in alot more trouble. I dont think we will use him and Flynn like Leak and Tebow because RP and MF both have similiar styles. They can both run the ball, unlike Leak who couldnt.
An interesting side note about those two...both, will be looking to replace the RG and RT on the OL with returning starters on the L side. Only exception, if I'm not mistaken LSU returns the C but UK doesn't. Biggest difference, based on production last year, is UK doesn't have a running game. They didn't average over a 100 yards per game all season. The Woodson-Burton combination won't catch teams off guard.
