This time of year the trout are in deep holes and I've got a bunch that have produced for years. Went to check them out today and the freaking red snapper and triggerfish have invaded. These spots are really close in and have never had snapper before. Season not open in MS so back they went. Triggerfish are legal but gotta be 14" fork length and all these were a little short. No trout to be found with all the snapper. Most were in the 5-10lb range. Hope they there when season opens. Caught prob 50 snapper and 15 triggers. Left em biting to find something we could keep. We didn't. If yall didn't know there is a massive shortage of red snapper in the northern gulf. They are being over fished to the point of being endangered. Except that they are so overpopulated they are forcing each other well inshore even up into the bay's. Gulf council are freaking crooked self serving morons.

Fill up a few gallon bags with fillets, put in something weighted that will sink if you see a boat coming. Place on bank at a distance from the launch. Go back if no Green Jeans is at launch.

That's what a real man would do. For his wife, ya know. ;)

A little red snapper is good for keeping the pink snapper snapping

I'm assuming that 3rd picture is a trigger fish. They good-tasting? Look more like something that belongs in a salt water aquarium in a waiting area of a doctor's office.

Yea triggerfish are damn fine. As for the rest of it I'll just say there sometimes things that happen bc the rules are stupid but those things might not should be posted on the interwebs.

Law-abiding citizen here baw. Clean record to prove it. Growing up I had a Game Warden with a son my age. He not only coached me many years but used our camp. I remember shooting wood ducks on a roost in our wooded lake with his two boys and hearing him yelling, "Stop shooting got dammit." If you know anything about shooting wood ducks on a roost you'll understand.
