Who of last year's redshirts will step up and play this season?

Helton is a JUCO. Thread asked for freshmen, otherwise I would have included him in my list towards the top.

Calhoun came in January, so I think anyone who has a jump start has a shot and I think he is one of the surprises of our class that will standout. I see him on special teams and some slot receiver.

Davenport, simply due to talent and the lack of anyone stepping up at DT.

    From Dandy Don today 3/11/09:

What happened to Hawkins at CB. Did he forget to mention him for some reason.

The only thing Dandy doesn't forget is to update his blog. :hihi:

Hawkins and Johnson will be the starters.

Chad Jones and Phelon Jones will be the extra DB's

McCray and Colman will be the Safeties.

While I think that is what most wish would happen, I think it is more likely Jones will start at Outside linebacker than Free Safety.

McCray was the starter when Taylor was out last year for a reason, and actually played better than Taylor played all year. Jones needs to play closer to the LOS to make the best of his abilities.

He will have to had significant improvements in his downfield play to keep McCray from starting there IMO.

You need to go read the quotes from Miles from last week when he addressed the media.

He said Jones is a FS and hinted that another DB might be moved to OLB. Speculation is that he was referring to Coleman moving to LB but it definitely was not Jones he was referring to.

I will see if I can find it for you.

I agree. And anything to give Jefferson a little more confidence and familiarity will be a good thing.
