Auburn had one of the worst defenses in the SEC. If not for Nick "un"Fairley people would have hung 50 a game on them. You guys scored 2 more points on them than we did, and we played them at Jordan Hare, with Jordan Jefferson and a stagnant LSU offense.
People really understate how much better Auburn's defense got in the second part of the year. It's the only reason they beat us, bama, and Oregon. The defense was atrocious the first part of the year but they got it together and became a good unit.
See I think they were way over rated. Their Defensive Line was great, that isn't debatable. But their back 7 was atrocious.
This is false. It really is... HOWEVER, their Dline was damn good along with a SENIOR Oline... Trenches... Lets start at the Ark game: yards given up: Ark - 566 LSU - 243 Miss - 407 Chattanooga - 334 UGA - 354 Bama - 446 USCe - 349 Oregon 449 Pretty much even all season
Let's not forget the misread in the read-option inside the 5 yard line where Thomas could have walked into the end zone, instead of handing it off to James who had Fairley hanging all over him for a loss. Mistakes happen.
