Well, to UDub's defense, it really doesn't matter HOW you configure your stadium seating...loud is loud. Is it louder that Tiger Stadium? Never been to Washington, but I HIGHLY doubt it's louder than Tiger Stadium. Too many national publications and analysts wouldn't rave so much about TS if it weren't.
I have seen Husky Stadium, and I mistook it for a high school stadium.......it is pretty rinky dink. And I am not sure how it gets so loud, as one end is completely open so the mega rich yacht owners can watch the games from Lake Washington or some such. It was a good thing they wore their "I want to be Notre Dame" jerseys for the USC game, because their offense was just about as productive as Notre Dames. I predict at least 2 loses for USC - Oregon and Cal. Anyone watching football this year can see these two teams, and not USC, are the class of the PAC 10 this year.
You are correct. And there are times when a stadium crowd can get louder than usual depending on the circumstances. No, Husky Stadium is not louder than Tiger Stadium. Under normal circumstances, it's not even louder than Autzen. But it didn't have to be. Saturday they had a full house and Husky fans believed they could upset USC so they went to work. The noise definitely impacted the snap count......false starts and offsides were the result.
The architecture of a stadium has a lot to do with how loud it is. Husky Stadium is built very much like Kyle Field was built before they put the big end zone stands in. I was at aTm for the 89 game and was not particularly impressed, even though LSU was getting killed. However, Husky Stadium has a roof over the grandstands, which funnels the sound down onto the field. I would suspect it is louder than most PAC 10 stadiums. The only way to tell would be to put a decibel meter in the QB's helmet. I seriously doubt UW is louder than LSU, UF, AU, UA or UGA. GEAUX TIGERS
I noticed they sound tornado sirens whenever Washington scores; that has to get on the nerves of their opponents.
Totally disagree. Pullman maybe but Husky Stadium is not rinky dink by any stretch. If you'd been inside to watch a game you'd know that viewing isn't something you can do from the water. BUT if it was, I'd do it if I had the opportunity. It's a beautiful setting for a stadium and one of the best in the Pac10 next to Tempe. Their throwback jersey was to celebrate a prior NC and while it did look like the domers, it was a nice tribute. Last I checked Ty is having a bit of a better year than CDub. :hihi: Only playing on the field will determine the better team but kal the class? They've put up 45, 34, 42, 45, and 31 points against teams that were ranked 95th, 63rd, 85th, 62nd, and 76th respectively in Total Defense. Not only that but kal's D is ranked 70th overall and 98th in Pass D. If (that's a big if) JDB has a day, forget it.
I've seen it on TV and it's gorgeous. I plan on seeing a game there sometime in my life. Have to say though, I'd rather watch the 'Hawks than the Huskies.
