So, if every other conference winner had 2 losses would you pick them over a 1 loss SEC team that didn't win their conference? I wouldn't.
That's about where I would draw the line. It has to be a capable team to replace Alabama that can be argued to take it's place. So alternatively, why doesn't a very capable 1 loss conference champ in arguably the toughest conference in the nation (as voted by many of the computer polls) get in over a 1 loss SEC team that already lost to the opponent of the BCS CG?
I didn't, I have been for a playoff system for a long time now. I agree with the posters who say this is a total different scenario since 03. It doesn't come close to being the same. Its another reason why a nail should go in the coffin of this irrational system. Give me LSU vs Stunford, Bama vs Okie State and then let the winners duke it out. Edit: Give me the top 4 or top 6 games in a playoff. Everyone can afford to give up a cupcake game a season. You then don't have the gaps in between playing time of the BCS Bowl Games! People need to wise up and stop being so traditional, stuck in their ways.
Here is a thought from my last post. Only the Conference Champions should play in a playoff. Screw everybody else, you can't win your conference Championship your done! How is that?
So we would play a first round rematch against Oregon instead of a championship game rematch against BAMA?
Funny thing is most LSU fans would never claim it even if the media did call it a split. If the tables were turned however you know the gumps would already have the flag up.
All of the conference champions play in a playoff system. It is based on rankings just like NFL or anything else. I would have to look at the rankings and figure this out, I think you would be correct and then the winner moves on. The winners could very well be LSU vs Alabama again but maybe it wouldn't be. I think most people wouldn't see any problem with a playoff system similar to the other playoffs held in football, NFL, etc. There is no complaints in this scenario, It is probably as fair as it can be.
to fill some of the space that the bowls occupy now there could be similar playoffs between rankings 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, 17-20 and so on to determine the final rankings. you would have to draw a line somewhere as far as how many teams make it to the playoffs but at least there would be a more legitimate way of determining an indisputable champion and final rankings.
