How to beat a heavily blitzing defense
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misdirection for one, but also moving pockets with a QB who is mobile enough to get outside.

We heard all about it during the spring. Is this the game we see Borges put it into play. Campbell is very effective on the run, and against a defense that is bringing linebackers on a blitz it basically takes them out of play unless they are fast enough to chase down Campbell from behind. If they are sending the linebackers, we can move the pocket and end up giving our receivers man coverage, and probably spring the TE's wide open a lot.

The difference between this year and last year is that we know somebody who, I believe, knows how to use all of the weapons that we have. Good grief, for starters we're just going to make them think about CW and Ronnie at the same time. Duh.

Since the OSU game some people have been scared toplay in the rain or on a wet field. I still believe LSU almost beat themselves that day and out talent level did not show up that day. Call it flat, wake up call whatever. I don't care if the field is wet. We will win this game based on better play calling, sticking to fundementals when making tackles, not blowing coverage, opening up more defensive shemes and a qb that cna throw the ball down field. This is a program that has improved every week every season and I do not expect to see the same team that played OSU. JA and AB can carry the load just as well as JV. LSU wins this one by at least 10 or we get blown out. Yhis won't be as close as people think.

LSU going away. Happy birthday Tubby and see you in div 1AA as a rent a win later down the road.

I really don't think the field will be very wet at all with 2 days to dry out.

I think having a lot of distractions will hurt Auburn.

I think it will be very close, or we will blow them out. I do not think they blow us out.

I was scrolling through my video downloads last night (i.e. porn) and came across a file I had for gotten about: "Auburn kicker and LSU band". It's only about 40 seconds long, and the kicker part is only a few seconds at the end, can't really tell what transpired. but. . .

The onside kick is featured prominately, as is Tubbs reaction. Man, I forgot how awesome that was (both the kick and reaction).

Worth a trip to Kazaa for. (search "auburn kicker" since I'm paraphrasing the actual title above).

Media wise, the advantage is to Auburn. New OC who has been successful the first two games. LSU, on the other hand, has struggled in their first few games.

Whoops, none of that means **** and we are going to show why we are superior in talent and coaching.....

LSU will run all over the Aubies front DL.

LOL! Get a load of this jackhole!

First off, no QB is more accurate overall throwing the ball "on the run" than by standing, planting, and stepping into a pass from within the pocket.

Next, who says LSU is gonna blitz all day long, and when they do that they'll use LBs every time? Hey, dude, ever heard of a zone blitz? Believe me, when Campbell "rolls out" and decides to throw a pass where a blitzing OLB once was because he figures it'll be safe and has his pass intercepted a la Jason White when a DE drops back in coverage, you'll learn.

Finally, there's a pretty good reason why even mobile QBs don't "roll out" on most pass plays---it'd be nearly impossible to keep him upright! If you roll out regularly, you rush outside of your tackles and your OL cannot contain the rush effectively (read: protect your ass).

If you watch football, you'll notice that on many pass plays all the OTs are trying to do is get the DEs to go straight upfield so that they can push the DEs past the pocket (which is one reason why pocket QBs who "step up" in the pocket are so effective).

Kinda hard to do that if your idiot QB keeps "rolling out" smack dab into the edge rusher(s) your OL and blocking RBs are trying to push upfield past the pocket.

Finally, I don't see LSU blitzing as much against AU as they would other teams because draws inside the tackles and quick screen passes are surefire ways to beat an overly-agressive, blitz-heavy defense, and running the ball and utilizing their backs are things AU does pretty damn well.

As I've said before, it all rests on the interior of the LSU D, especially the DL. If LSU can get regular push, pressure and QB containment from it's front four, it'll make a world of difference in this game.
