I've been wearing the same hat to games (and any number of other events) since 1986, my sophomore year. It used to be white with purple and gold LSU lettering. Its now off-white with a few other now unidentifiable stains and I use a safety pin to hold the back together. My picture with it was in the campus paper when we played UGA in Athens in 86/87 (I forget the year, but we won). The Hallman/Dinardo years were pretty rough on it because I'm prone to slam it into the bleachers or a wall or something else when we *#$% up. I got Johnnie Jones to autograph the bill the year Shaq and crew lost in the first round of the SEC basketball tourney in Nashville. I drove up the first day of the tourney and missed that debacle. By the time I got to Nashville, the team had left town. I ran into Jones at a restaurant and he signed it. Over the years, my wife has bought me any number of newer, nicer looking LSU hats, including a NC hat, but somehow they just don't fit right. Right before the NC game, I promised her that if we won I would retire it. I have not worn it since that night. But, somehow I think it will find its way onto my head Saturday morning whether I want it there or not. At least I retired the boxers, pants, shirt and shoes that I wore religiously to every home and away game from 86 to 89. Maybe that's why Hallman and Dinardo had so many problems. Can't wait until Saturday. Just gotta remember what else I wore to the NC game :geaux:
