Re: Coolest Bars in Baton Rouge

We're a late 20's crowd who prefers a laid back atmosphere and we'll have our wives/girlfriends with us so hooking up won't be a priority for us. We love to listen to live music and/or karaoke and just hang out and take in the sites and sounds of the game weekend atmosphere. Our favorite places have been bars that capture the essence of the university and what it stands for. Examples of some great bars we have been to are Houndstooth in Tuscaloosa and Esso Club in Clemson. We prefer places pretty close to campus so that the energy of the students and the football game carriy over into the nightlife.

    So, I'm guessing that's a no-go.

Eat and drink and be merry at The Chimes, right outside the north gates of LSU. Hundreds of beer options, and their food is some of the best in town (some would say the world, and I think they're right.)

I'll let the other locals suggest other bars for you to hang out at though.

I think Friday night before the game Walk Ons and The Chimes will have a lot of people your age. Plus each has pretty good food and good location.

Correct, not much into the gay bar scene........not that there's anything wrong with that. (a la Seinfeld)

Great food (I crave the BBQ shirmp and spinach and artichoke dip every day), Tons of imported beer, laid back, oyster season (known for their raw oysters) and close to all the action. Stadium is definitely in walking distance. Great place for wives/gf's also- it's my personal favorite place in BR.

Also, find a tailgate and say your all the way from Ohio- buddy, you're drinking on us the whole day!

BTW, how did you get to be a tiga fan all the way in Ohio? Whatever the reason- glad to have you!:thumb:
