Actually, it was. It was reported here that the deal had to include his being able to bring the pitching coach with him. It was also reported that the pitching coach's dream job was HC at OU (the guy is from Oklahoma) and that the Stephenson deal basically set him up to be the HC after Stephenson retired from OU.
That pitching coach, as I recall, figured pretty prominently in that beaning incident a few years back.
Something at OU must be REALLY wrong for someone to turn down a job from a major conference program...
