Not really. Bush has no discipline on the spending side. His non-military spending increased at twice the rate of Clinton (who ran budget surpluses). He has made huge increases in the size of government while cutting its income at the same time. He's just going to let future presidents and future taxpayers deal with the unprecedented national debt he is responsible for. The vast war expenditures are all on top of that. America is hemorraging money and we are borrowing to pay for it. The Bank of China is purchasing much of our Treasury notes and they are making huge profits off of the interest we must pay. It also gives them the opportunity at some point to dump billions of US dollars and cause a collapse of the value of the Dollar. Wilson paid for WWI with Liberty bonds and taxes. Roosevelt paid for WWII with War Bonds, taxes, lend-lease, and rationing. Bush is paying for Iraq by borrowing money from overseas and letting future generations worry about it. It's also his plan for exiting Iraq. Just last week he said "We are not going to withdraw from Iraq while I'm President". He plans to leave the problem he created for the next guy. The easy, irresponsible way out.
