If that is true then I suspect they knew what their answer was going to be. I think that was obvious to everyone.
First of all, you make it sound like I'm making it up, which I'm not...This was discussed in another thread and USCvBall was blasting me for saying that, even after I linked the LA Times article that said it...Which, it wasn't the only place that I read it. Second of all, what's the harm in asking???
The USC/ Illinois match up is simple... the media and Big Ten homers had to justify giving OSU the #1 rank and the trip to the NC... so they gave the ONLY team to beat them the nod for the Rose Bowl. Doesn't matter... since we both had the same ranking... what's the likelyhood that LSU and USC split another NC. We all know Illinois poses no threat to USC... it's going to be a nasty game. I will however look forwrd to watching UGA destroy the only unbeaten team in college football.
Although it is my belief there were better choices than Illinois, I wouldn't use TV ratings as a reason Georgia should have been in the Rose Bowl. Illinois/USC doesn't get much better for audience. Also, playing USC in LA is no easy task for anyone... and, therefore, it is not anything close to automatic that Georgia would go out there and kick butt. They're much better off stomping Hawaii... then bragging later about how they would have beaten USC.... in internet football.
I don't know, USC v. UGA seems to like it would have gained a pretty nice audience. ESPN would hype the sh** out of the Pac-10/SEC angle, and I consider them to be the hottest two teams right now.
Did not mean to come across as if you were making it up. Just responding to the topic at hand. When I said obvious to everyone, I meant bowl officials and talking heads, etc...
