The only legit stars on that list are Barkley, Horry, Sprewell, Wilkins, and King.

The rest weren't really noteworthy NBA players.

Which equals 1 good player per team, except Horry and Sprewell from 'Bama.

I'd still take Shaq over anybody else on that list.

3 NBA titles, 5 appearances in the finals...a DOMINATING player who still supports

And for all the slagging I've done on Daddy Dale...

Bob Knight (with the notable exception of Isiah Thomas) and Mike K haven't produced great pro talent, either, and you could probably add Lute Olsen to that list too.

I think they have had pretty good college coaching careers.

PS Tim Hardaway ain't all that.

im pretty sure its s.o.p. for injured players not to make road trips

i dont know glen or his academic situation (although i read he will stick around to finish the semester), but the obvious conclusion to draw is that he's just a "thug" (for lack of a better word) that has never valued the real purpose of college and wants to get out. all this talk about he feels in his heart that its the right time to go--bs. stupid decision. especially after he saw what happened to bass. dude may not get drafted, unlikely to make a roster and will be playing in crete with jose vargas. he'll make decent money, but not after you subtract a nice new car and factor in the career earnings for euroball. i sure hope euroball contracts include some tuition reimbursement.

    this is pretty funny.

    tr dunn?

and whats the point about robinson and hardaway? great players, so?

if all you can come up with is two at most from any sec school except UK, then so what? (ok-i'll help you out. you did leave out several players)

pretty funny that you included blanton and singleton in the lsu list--like anyone ever expected them to have any chance. i mean both were good college role players. neither a star.

but in the end, you are right. very little nba talent has come out of lsu, but so what? nba sucks.

Chris Jackson and Jerry Reynolds played 10 years in the NBA. Randy Livingston played 9 years. John Williams and Stanley Roberts, each played 8 years. Stromile Swift has played 5 years so far. These players had significant careers in the NBA, amigo.

Rudy Macklin, Kenny Higgs, Dewayne Scales, Glen Hansen, and Geert Hammink each played 3 seasons. These players certainly "cut it".

Brandon Bass, Ricky Blanton, Frank Brian, Howard Carter, John Chaney. Ronald Dupree, Dan Hester, Steffond Johnson, Bill Newton, Al Sanders, Jabari Smith, Collis Temple Jr., and Nikita Wilson all played for 1 or 2 years in the NBA. Tyrus Thomas has played for 1 so far.

Did you forget Shaquille O'Neal, an NBA Top-50 All time player and future Hall-of Famer?

No other SEC school has three NBA Top-50 players but LSU does, with Shaq and Hall-of-Famers Bob Pettit (The NBA leading scorer upon his retirement) and Pete Maravich (still the NCAA leading scorer).

Do the research and learn something. 30 LSU players have played in the NBA . . . 18 came from Dale Brown teams, 6 from three earlier coaches and 6 from Brady.

T R Dunn spent 14 seasons in the NBA and was considered to be one of the best rebounders and defenders in the league.I would say a 14 year career would qualify you as a star nba player.Obviously the superstars are easy to spot.Maybe I should have used a different phrase. How about legetimate nba player...not someone around for a cup of coffee and a maybe a doughnut.I left out the Reggie Kings , Leon Douglas's etc because although they had a good run in the nba they were not long time players.Douglas ,for example ,lasted 7 seasons which is more nba time than the entire 81 LSU final four team.I could have gone on nameing players from other schools like Antonio McDyess,Vern Fleming, etc etc ....guys with quality time in the NBA,but felt it was redundant. The reason I named Blanton...he signed a ten day contract with the bulls at one point and blew a couple of layups.... CNN headline sports that night called Blanton "the worst NBA player in history".And as for bringing up David Robinson and Hardaway...at the time LSU was supposed to destroy both those teams in the tourney.LSU with Williams ,Wilson and Reynolds against Navy ..How could we get blown out by them when we have so much talent?NOW ...we know. Same thing with Chris Jackson and Hardaway. The next year ...while Jackson was becoming the biggest bust in the draft ...Hardaway was on his way to a stellar14 year career...and rookie of the year honors.

Red, I didnt miss Shaq...I named him as LSU's one exception...you give Dewayne Scales 3 years ...the first is legit...after that he played in 4 games one year and in 2, 2 years later. What a career. Livingston played in a total of 43 games over his last 5 years..about 8 games a year in an 82 game season. Are the rest of these guys stats that impressive ?

Red ,I point out that LSU has had very few legitimate NBA players since the mid 70's ,with Shaq being the exception....and you give me a bunch of players with worse stats than Alabama's Jim Farmer and Buck Johnson and Kentucky's Kenny Walker.Geez...2 games counts as a season to you? That was Blantons entire career.Hanson Played in a grand total of 5 games his last 2 seasons.Jerry Reynolds only started 40 games his entire freaking career...You make my argument for me.Even Stromile isnt a starter. I am as big an LSU fan as there is,but i try not to let myself get caught up in wishful thinking and hype. The bottom line is for all the belief that we have had such outstanding talent ,the fact is we havent . We have had good college players and been pretty successful and some have played in the NBA,or has in Livingstons case....sat on an NBA bench

I wasn't hyping outstanding talent, I was countering your statement that ex-Tigers "couldn't cut it" in the NBA and that the other SEC schools have better players. You haven't proved that, yet. Got some NBA numbers from all the SEC schools?

I think LSU gets about the same talent that other SEC schools do. Perhaps more recently. In the last four years LSU has had two SEC Most Valuable Player and three SEC Freshmen of the Year.
