Well thats not a throw and after the first series of that, Bama went zone and that was no more. LSU can scheme vs a running QB, bama can aswell.
Well then, what's your point about "potential" first down throws? "Potentially", every first down is an opportunity to throw it on first down. Are we holding Jennings accountable for pass plays that aren't called? Maybe you noticed tonight, on the other side of the ball was another QB who was playing pretty badly too. Sims also got victimized by some drops, but had some pretty bad misses too. He was 16 of 39 when the last drive started. But Bama's offensive philosophy is to throw the ball, and when it doesn't go well, they keep throwing. As a result, Blake Sims doesn't blink when he's suddenly asked to march his team 50 yards in 50 seconds (he was 4 of 6 on the last drive). Miles philosophy however, is to throw it only when he obviously have to, and the definition of obvious becomes even more narrow if the QB struggles in the beginning. Now I have no way of knowing what's going on in Jennings' or Sims' heads, and neither do you. But I don't think its too far-fetched to think Sims enters the game much more confident than Jennings to begin with, and doesn't lose confidence if he struggles, because his coach doesn't pull in the reigns at the first sign of trouble. Miles in fact, doesn't even need trouble to reign in the QB, because its his philosophy to run, run, run. Jennings has to, repeat, has to do much, repeat, much better than he did tonight. But the coaching staff has to, repeat, has to, do a better job of putting him in a position to succeed.
I dont think Sims is any good. He basically throws 2 yard passes to Cooper and Cooper makes a play. thats Bamas O. Our QB can barely throw a good screen pass.
Saban says to Miles, "I'll give you the ball on our five and you give us the ball on our 35; I like our chances."
sims has made plays late in almost every game. hes not great but hes a gamer. and has the potential to be very good but our defense is no joke.
I don't think he's that good either, but that doesn't stop Saban from doing what he wants to do with the offense. That's smart football, get the ball in the hands of your playmakers. We run our playmakers 40 yards downfield, then blame the QB for not getting them the ball. The screen pass complaint is no longer valid. He stunk at the play at the beginning of the year but has improved immensely in that area.
OK, you keep saying this. Its false. 1st, you are implying all were perfect passes. None were. 2nd, on both the Quinn "drops", he had to dive to get them. Jennings is not as gifted as Mett. Throws ducks. Not strikes. Also threw many balls high and some in the dirt. He needs to run the read options.
every pass complaint is valid. completing one or two doesnt mean success. it just means your expectations are so low, this is what looks like a successful passing game. it is not. it is horrendous as predicted to be the difference before the game.
