Hey Micah, What mello mascot are you talking about? If you're talking about Shaquita, I'm not sure if anyone even knows where she is. And about the fish: after the mellophones stole it last year, we got LRM to take a picture with it. I don't have a copy, but I'm sure you could find someone who does. Good times... By the way, this is Stan.
hey all, Thought i would send in my name. Michael Foret - played 2000-2003. and yes, i enjoyed Shaquita, The national championship game, and making obsceneties with a certain fish. FOREVER LSU!
Re: 2003 Keeper That's a pretty cool story. I didn't realize all of that goes on. I may have "met" a few of you but didn't know it. I'm a game marshal and have escorted the band from the band room to the PMAC and then to the stadium since 2002. HatcherTiger...your friends daughter has made and excellent choice. :thumb:
Re: 2003 Keeper I thought you said the band members were out of state folks? Nathan Goebel is/was a good ole Zachary boy. AAAAHHHH God's country!! I guess they keep a couple scholly's for local folks.
Man this thread was dug out of the grave...... Damn fish... I'm going to steal and burn that thing...
ramprat, Way back in 2000 - or 2001 was it? - were you there when the First guy screamed out "For the love of God, will somebody please play the fight song?!" he was at a tent just as we exited the street and onto sidewalk, between the end of the Long Fieldhouse and the NE ramp to the PMAC. and to the poster concerning the first two names on the fish being Louisiana boys - I guess that goes to show some people would rather be in a good band (the Golden Band) and not get paid much (LA people only on 640) than go to some crappy band (the hundred dollar band from birmingham) and get more. trust me, the 640 i got each fall was well spent and well earned but i would have done it for free. FOREVER LSU
uh tbmello, you do realize there is a reason we are called the best band money can buy. It is because our members get paid higher than most any other band out there. Yes it is because the athletic department loves us, but the Tigerbandsmen still get paid a whole lot more than most members of other bands. Last I heard bama's band only gets lik 65 dollars for the semester.
When looking at music scholarships (not simply marching band 'scholarships') one would get more money by going elsewhere. If you had an opportunity to get 640 at LSU (because Music Scholarships are held for out-of-staters) or 2000 at Bama, which would you take? Which would most take? Just saying some do it for the experiences, some do it for the money (cuz they're good enough). Maybe those guys turned down more money elsewhere, maybe they didn't. I don't know. I'm glad they stole trash from Alabama- it makes us all look good.
