I really think those folks are in the minority. I come on here and get the feeling that I can't discuss my concerns. I appreciate everyone supporting the program and wanting to give Miles an opportunity to prove himself. I just can't believe I'm the only one who wouldn't be afraid of Miles if he were the coach at Auburn. He would be more in the, "I don't know what to think of him" category.
First, the comparison to Coach Mac. All Mac did was win over 85% of his games. His problem? He could not beat the bear and ole piss when they had a winning record. Of course, no one else could either, but the brain trust here (and it has not changed much throught the years) thought we coud do better. Bo Rein (died), Jerry Stoval (fired), Bill Arnsberger (left), Mike Archer (fired), Curley Hallman (fired), Gerry DiNardo (fired), and Nick Saban (left) later some of you are still searching. The only two successful coaches LSU has had since Mac have left LSU - with fans like ours and the politics of Louisiana, I wonder why. I do not know what Miles will do over his tenure at LSU, but I will support him, his players and coaches. LSU football needs some stability - changing coaches every four to five years just hurts the University and the football program.
i was so excited for UAB football after that, but the program still hasn't taken off. Watson brown just has too much on his plate to manage a top 25 football team. he is AD and head coach.
LSU! I can remember back to after the game in 2001 after we lost to Ole miss in tiger stadium to be 4-3 (2-3 in the SEC could have been 1-4 except for miracle finish at Kentucky) riding back from the game listening to everybody calling in to the post-game saying how we should get rid of Saben and how he wasn't the answer and couldn't even beat the young manning kid at home. Then he went on that 6 game win streak to win the SEC and the Sugar bowl and the rest is history with Saben being a legend at LSU. My point is Saben was a little over halfway through his second year at LSU much like Miles is right now and it is just too early to say one way or the other how things will turn out for Miles. Let's learn a lesson from 2001 and reserve Judgement on Miles as a Coach and at least see what might happen throughout the rest of this year and the favorable schedule and season next year before we decide to write off Coach Miles. LSU!
No reason for that sonny. Saban's teams did indeed lose 3 or more games in all bit one of his seasons here.
You presume. If you get satisfaction out of being closer to accurate, yet realistic, then you are fine. For myself, even though I might realize that realistically they might lose two-three, I still hope to obtain an undefeated season. I mean if auburn can do it, why not LSU? No you dont have a LOSER mentality. You simply are happy with less because it validates what you predicted ahead of time. no gloom and doom here I enjoy the wins. Overall I am thrilled LSU is a top tier football program. I just know they could do better though, and you do too, if you're honest with yourself. is it hard to do? yes, is it impossible, no. It's great to be realistic, but like I said if you lower your standards your Minimums become your maximums, and it is very real. It even validates itself. Good day.
First off no one is pissed off, here at my keyboard anyway. From your language it would appear you are more pissed off than some of these others. ALso, I have no idea who you are talking to. Certainly I never said can the coach. I do know there are somethings he can do to improve upon when playing good teams. Certainly my stance is I wouldn't mind losing to top tier teams if I thought we brought our "A" game, but we did not. Even with the weakness' you pointed out, we just didn't bring our "A" game to EITHER game. Regardless of the REFS, which was a whole other story. I don't think anyone here can stand up and say, "well they did their best over there". Sure people make mistakes and let's let bygones be bygones, but let's not lie about it either or say well it's what I expected, just to validate a pre season prediction. Facts are facts, and they played crummy. Why is up for debate, but that fact isn't. You can't candy coat a turd and make it a jolly rancher. I do know one thing, 99% of the people who post here are not "clowns" or "idiots". Even the worst of posters are not "damned fools". I can see where some posts are somewhat idiotic, I'll give you that, but if LSU can have a bad day, I guess some of these folks around here can too. I mean try to give people the benifit of their opinion. I know it gets old after 50 times, I lose it too. But try. It is sad that a senior member such as yourself can set this example. I don't respect that. Thanks for reading and Have a great day.
If the post doesn't apply to you, then there's no need for bloviating in response. I stand by my comments. Just read the posts. There are people who are angry, there are clowns, and idiots and stupid comments all over the forum following the Fla loss. I stayed away for a week just to keep my blood pressure down. I can handle the losses. I don't like them but I can handle them. A lot here cannot. It's one thing to analyze, dissect, discuss, etc, but to question a coach's ability after one loss is just stupid. If you can't handle my attitude, take a spin around the track and blow off some steam. And one other thing: John Curtis would beat S. Panola by 28.
