So what? I'm not talking about you making 2 trips a year with your drinking buddies and happening to catch some on 1 out of 5 trips.

It was never about him catching, rather, why?

this is exactly right all around. its ours and no one has a right to question what youre doing with all of it as long as its legal. but its a legit question if you claim to be a conservationist and jval threw his little fit and left. weak shit really.

Guys, I don't think he is gone, @KyleK was just telling him to put the liberal ass "I need the government to tell me how to live" @lsutiga on ignore, which would probably be a good move for him.

Hey, sportsmen aren't supposed to be pussies. Hell, TC took much worse from us.

In fact he's more of a meat-hunter than a sportsman. That was the crux of our discussion, since you didn't figure that out couyon.

The law says I can take one alligator snapping turtle a day. I take one or two a year. See.

jval was right. You are right. Everybody can see that except the obstinate one. The point is I miss the fish and game porn and it's tiga's fault. One fall and winter during the 80's I was laid off from my job. I had a few great spots to catch lots and lots of redfish and I more than replaced my lost income by selling redfish to local restaurants and to friends. It was during the same time that commercial boats from Florida were committing genocide on the species by surrounding whole schools with purse seines. I caught all mine with a rod and reel and had a great time doing it. What's wrong with that. Don't the redfish belong to me just as much as they belong to out of state commercial fishermen?

Absolutely, that is the problem that govt boy doesn't understand. We used to go out with 4-6 guys and tie up to a rig and fish for a day and a half. We'D come in and take what we wanted, sell the rest at the dock and often times leave with a little cheddar. Now when you add fuel, bait, food, beer you are looking at over $100 per just to catch 2 fish.

It's sad and disturbing that a country boy like @lsutiga has no clue as to what is what. I'm disappointed.

Catching big snapper is more like work than sport fishing. Drop the line over until it sinks to the bottom and reel them in. They don't put up much of a fight and it's more like hoisting dead weight. Nothing like catching trout and redfish. If I were to go snapper fishing it would be more for the meat than the sport. If I have to pay all that money to keep only 2 I'll just buy what I need at a fish market or order the snapper in a restaurant. Now you can only keep 5 redfish. It used to be you could keep 50 specks and redfish in the aggregate. You can still keep 25 specks. Redfish have to be at least 16 inches. Before the laws changed I used to catch a lot of 13 to 15 inchers that were the best tasting although not of commercial size. Specks have to be 12 inches. I'm pretty sure a lot of the smaller ones die anyway when the are handled when taking the hook out of their mouths.

I'll bet you a case of beer that "old country boy" has poached fish and game more times than you can shake a stick at.
