I'm on year three without cable. I have an old low profile PC connected to the livingroom PC. I use Kodi (formerly XBMC) and its various addons to get movies and shows (legally and otherwise). I use an antenna on the roof to get local HD. I've used a few other devices but none of them meet my customization wants that I address with a PC.
