If the Ravens hasn't stolen Mt. Cody with the 57th pick, New Orleans could have swept down with the Brown pick (64th pick) and you have your all pro NT for years. I would have given it an A for............................................you know. So only a B.
Could be an even riskier move IMO but debatable. Those heavy DTs have a low success rate and short life span. I would worry about his eating habits especially in LA.
B. Because we picked last and the pickin's were relatively slim. I give the staff an A because they have proven themselves to be adept at stocking the roster with quality personnel.
It's a big if for every team in the draft. But you would have a hard time finding other team's drafts this year that can honestly say that 4 guys appear destined to be starters like the Saints can say about theirs. From that standpoint, we hit it out the park. And if Woods becomes that big run stuffer we been in need of (and only plays on obvious running downs), then even he will be deemed a great success.
Largest hands and wideest wingspan of any DT in the draft. If he adds another 10-12 lbs of muscle, he will indeed be that huge body in the middle (6'4" 325).
Several teams called the Saints to trade up to their spot in an effort to select l Woods, so the Saints staff felt that it would be best to move up and get him before someone else worked out a deal to move up. I give it an "A". Woods is the worst pick and I think he'll do no worse than Harold Green. Some of the players I was hoping that they'd draft in the later rounds ended up signing UDFA contracts with them.
