Jack Gonsoulin missed a field goal inside the red zone, Jonathan Rucker was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct on the opening kickoff, and the Tigers had a gap in kick coverage on two occasions that could have been very costly had John Battle not been there to make a solo tackle each time. That said, Gonsoulin also made two field goals, Josh Growden’s only punt went for 42 yards, and the Tigers’ coverage units allowed BYU an average of only 19.2 yards on five kickoff returns.
