Really ... I agree. I've forgot what a passing game looks like at LSU .. until last night. It was a departure from a WR screen every pass play. I mean ... 27 attempts ... 21/27 ... 200+ yrds .... whodathunk it.
So he's supposed to block two guys? I thought it was Odell's guy who made the tackle. Not gonna be perfect, but geez, I recall several plays where I saw Randle and Landry making exceptional blocks. One in particular by Randle allowed Ford to get a first. But alas, you may be right. I just remember WR blocking was mentioned as a team strength...and was also mentioned as the only thing keeping Boone and Wright ahead of ODB and Landry...guess they figured it out because the two freshmen appear to be ahead of Boone and Wright...
It was week 3. It seems like we used to always play them early in the season until recently. Anyway, we got majorly jobbed by the refs in that game. We outgained Auburn 311 to 182 and didn't turn the ball over at all. Russell was not bad and completed 20 of 35 for 269 yards. It was a weird game that we should not have lost.
Based on those numbers, maybe we weren't as conservative as I thought. Sounds like we must have had trouble running the ball in that game.
I think the consensus was an option route by Randle and he sat down after watching the safeties coming up in support over the top, and Lee should have read the same thing and hit Randle for 20 yards up the sideline.
go back and watch the games and watch how many times we put ourselves in 3rd and long because we were so stubborn trying to run the ball we had only 230 yards of offense going into that last drive with just about 2 minutes to go
