I'm glad to see LSU baseball getting some love. As much as I love all LSU sports, I have a special spot in my heart for LSU baseball. As great as Morris' homer was, the series of events that Nutria pointed out make the 2000 Championship game my choice. I knew we were going to win that game. It was destiny.
That play appears on this video, which I'm sure has been linked to before, but what the hell, here it is again. A favorite of mine is here as well, Lyle Mouton's trademark home run cut, the quick one hand release and drop the bat to the ground when he knew it was gone...one cool cut. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuGUHsAbLUw&NR=1
Ha, I remember Zeph Zinsman used to do that a lot. I remember one game (not even sure what game) where he had a major cut on a first-pitch fastball, gingerly put the bat on the ground while you could read his lips exclaiming "WOW!" He just stood there for a second until the ump gently nudged him to round the bases. :hihi:
In 01 Zeph Zinsman hit about a 1200 foot home run. I kid you not it one hopped and hit the Athletic Administration building. The ball was hit well over Nicholson.
1 -- The only play in LSU history that brought a tear to my eye (I'm about the least-sappiest person on the planet) -- Lionel Turner sacking Jason White on the delayed blitz. 2 -- Pretty much any run by Cecil Collins :hihi:
Zeph Zinsman went to junior high out here in Cupertino with a girl that I work with. She said he was a strange dude even back in the day...
