What was the greatest ever moment in LSU sports history? There have been a lot of great moments but I think the best two are Billy Cannon's 89 yard punt return against Ole Miss in 1959 to keep LSU rated # 1 and Warren Morris walkoff home run in 1996 to beat Miami for the College Baseball National Championship.
Cannons run against Ole Miss LSU beating Florida in 97 Warren Morris's Home Run The Blue Grass Miracle. Josh Reed Thats my top 5
Actually we won the NC in '58 and Cannon's run was in 1959, LSU was 9-2 that year. That run did run our win streak to 19 games.
Sorry, got to disagree. I was 9 years old and trick or treating at the time. I remember grown men standing outside listening on their car radios and jumping up and down and whooping an hollering like crazy. That run was the catalyst to our only NC.
I damn near fell out of my chair when Morris hit that home run. It was the greatest play I ever wittnessed. It also won a college world series. I guess Cannon's run gets my vote. It won him a heisman.
Look it up. I was 8 years old when it happened. That is why I look it up every year when this question comes up. I am too old to rely on my long term memory.
That run was the catalyst to Cannon's heismen. LSU lost to Tennessee a week or two later which dashed LSU's hopes of back to back titles. According to TAF's Greatest Moments in LSU History the run was on October 31, 1959.
