From an emotional standpoint, no we had very little invested other than our respective rankings and 1 game from 5 years ago. However, from a clinical view, I can't think of a better overall performance by one of our teams. I do think the hokies are a good team, but I can't remember LSU banging on every cylinder so early in the season, and with several new players in key skill positions, not to mention the Oline. Watching the game from the stadium, VaTech did not look inept, just overwhelmed. Considering that our team traditionally peaks in November, and several players commented that there is much more room for improvement, I almost feel sorry for the rest of the SEC. Almost...
I will say that the win over Arizona in 2003 was very impressive - but Arizona wasn't as good as the Hokies.
Exactly. There have been other (many other, in fact) wins in LSU! history that have meant more or that have been more impressive in that they took a whole team effort. But these past two games (yeah, I'm including MooU) the entire team has an almost assasin-like quality to it. I thought VT was going to be the first real talent level test but that turned out not to be the case. Now I think the first character test will be South Carolina. If our :tigerhead take care of business in that game with the same assasin-like attitude then the real character and talent test will be UF. Get through that game (and Kentucky the next week) and the season may well be set.
