I never said anything about how good Chang will be in the NFL. But if scouts felt that Chang was a good QB, they would draft him on the hope he'd be good in the NFL, wouldn't they? Just because he had the best stats in the NCAA (which he didn't, except in one area) doesn't make him the best QB in the NCAA. Generally. LSU & Florida were mediocre offenses - at best. What kind of fool would consider them high powered is beyond me. By high powered offensive system, I mean a system where the offense is designed to score a ton of points - usually by throwing it a whole lot. Last year's Utah, Texas Tech, BYU etc. It doesn't matter whether they are successful or not, just the philosophy behind it is my point.
thats bs. they have june jones who is a disciple of the run n shoot, mouse davis days. the qb succeeding chang (colt brennan) has way more skills and will likely break many of his records if he remains healthy. Jones has half the staff from the oilers era when Warren Moon set almost every offensive record for that club. how do you think he has a connection to glanville who is their DC? they recruit 100 wide receivers because of the run n shoot. they know they cant match up talent wise at hawaii which is their sole reasoning for running this offense and its a smart strategy.
That wasn't LSU's goal. Ball control, wearing down the other team, and just scoring enough to win are the real goals of most offenses right now.
No, everyone's goal is to win the game. If a team can do that with ball control, low scoring & good defensive efforts - that's what they do. If a small team lacks talent to match up with most teams, they often put all their focus on offense & try to outscore every opponent. They don't run the ball much, worry about running down the clock, wearing down the other team, or being a great defense. They are a high powered offense, as oppossed to most big programs that run balanced offenses - like LSU.
Yes and No. Yes everyone wants to score as many points as possible, but most choose to do it methodicly rather than air it out. CParso is right. In the SEC, LSU included, teams pretty much all run ball control heavy offenses. Even when Spurrier was at UF his offense was 55-45 pass-run. Nothing like what they do at Hawaii or Texas Tech Wearing opposing defenses out is key to having a succesful offense in the SEC.
Actually, Russell will start, Guilbeau hit the nail on the head and most fans don't know squat.:hihi:
