Idiot. "a testament". backup. Randall. I hold some of the same opinions as you but having such a representative as yourself is not furthering our cause. :dis: Interesting stat about Mauck... in SEC games and the MNC he threw 16 TDS and 13 ints... in all other games he threw 12 and 1. In the biggest games of the year, twice against Georgia, and against Ole Miss and OU in the MNC... 5 TDs and 7 INTs.
Don't waste your breath trying to explain that complex idea to some of these fools. They think the definition of 'subjective' is subjective. I don't know. I'm not the biggest x's and o'd guy in the world, but he appears to have little trouble with the reads. He also checks off recievers and makes great decisions...two things Russell can't seem to figure out. As someone else pointed out, Guilbeau is rarely taken seriously. I think this was the same guy that said he thought Saban would retire as LSU's head coach. At any rate, I love how he strips Mauck of any credit. That oughta single-handedly destroy the credibility of this turd of an article. I mean, the guy only broke Hodson's single-season TD record. Mauck was very intelligent, a great decision maker, and even better leader. Those three attributes are absolutely crucial to being a consistent QB in college. And all the talent in the world won't make up for a lack of them. Since SabanFan doesn't go to any games, he has no idea how many time per game JR doesn't even look at or see the wide open reciever. He locks on so bad pre-snap it ain't even funny. I can't tell you how many times this year we were jumping out of our seats, screaming and pointing to a reciever with no one within 10 yards of him. And where's Russell? Looking in the opposite direction. Funny how that problem ceased near the end of the N. Texas game... Saying Guilbeau sticks it to the ignorant is like saying Paris Hilton sticks it to the sluts...
Whatever you say, Coach. Part of being ignorant is not knowing you are ignorant. I'll go along with the LSU! coaching staff on this one. Sorry if that offends you.
In talking about big games you need to throw in the Tenn. SEC championship game. That makes Mauch 4-1 in those big games. He also got alot done with his feet. Leadership is an a intangible when talking about the QB position. Mauck had that, Booty did not. Didn't Booty set a record for most incompletions in a game against Arkansas?
all-in-all, this is a good article, but Flynn did play well... No need to take from what he did... No matter how much we watered down the offense for him, we still did score 40 pts on a top 5 defense with him under center, and only scored 19 on Arkansas with JR... Talent-wise, I know this is all JR hands down, but things just seemed to click with Flynn in control.. Was this a one game fluke? I don't know? That is what ULL is for next year! :thumb:
Talent wise in terms of making all the throws... JR is a physical beast... All of this means nothing if he makes the wrong decisions, but he does have all of the tools... he just hasn't put them all in the toolbox yet...
Thats the point of the article, fans aren't able to seperate results from true QB abilities. Just because we got more points with Flynn in one game than Russell got in most games doesn't necessarily make him a better QB. It doesn't mean he has better mechanics, doesn't mean he's smarter & doesn't mean that he's a better leader.
That's true. I keep forgetting that you don't form opinions of your own, only confide in what those higher-up tell you. Not sorry if that offends you.
