But you'd be wrong. It's not prolific but clearly very good. I had typed its perfect for their defense as well as ours. Pretty sure they average over 200 air and ground and this is with their starters sitting often. It's similar to ours last year when lee was clicking. But less volatile. Then jj returned and that was that.
Don't be fooled by lack of style points and yards. Their offense is physical and effective. They set out to control the clock and they do. If our offense last year was good, then there's is as well. But they are made better by their defense, so if we can somewhat control the clock a little, their offense is less effective.
Im not saying its bad, ive been complimenting their O all season. Its very balanced and efficient, but it still doesn't fall in the very good catagory JMO. Its more than they need with yheir D though.
Had a Arkansas-born-and-bred bama fan (I know right, wtf is up with that) tell me yesterday about how many points this year's bama squad has scored vs opponents points against and tried to tell me that this team is the greatest college football team of all time. Really? Greatest of all time? You don't say? Take off the gump glasses, bruh. They haven't played anyone of significance. Maybe they lose to LSU and maybe they don't, but they're gonna have to work their asses off unlike anything they've done this year if they want to get out of the Red Stick with a W.
If I were a betting man, I wouldn't touch this game with a 10 foot pole. That being said, I saw Alabama in person Saturday. It wasn't as close as the score indicated. It was brutal.
LSU can match Alabama in the trenches. They have not faced as physical as offensive line as LSU, their front seven will be tested in the running game. Offensively Bama has struggled to stop speed rushers off the edge and LSU has a superlative edge rush. LSU can match Alabama on defense, maybe even edge them, certainly in speed. LSU has been disappointing on special teams. We kickoff well, but field goal kicking is inconsistent. We punt slightly better than Bama, but not as good as Wing did last year. Bama far exceeds us in kickoff and punt returns, but they are much worse on punt and kickoff return defense. This could go either way. Bama has a huge edge on offense with an experienced and confident quarterback. They will score and LSU's offense will be challenged to match them. Our running game will pound them and is deep enough to be strong in the fourth quarter. It all depends on whether Mettenberger turns the corner and starts getting the ball off quicker and more accurately. Nick will play it safe. Les cannot afford to.
By the end of the first quarter, we'll know if we can hang. If they get out in front by 10-14 points, it could get ugly. If we play the way we're capable of playing, we can win. However, we haven't played that way yet this year so it's an uphill battle. Gun to my head, I take bama -9
How much of the success LSU had rushing last year in November should be credited to the change of pace your offense presented by utilizing the option game? I look at that as one of the advantages held by LSU in BDS. I certainly knew of the possibility, but with the offense being ran by Lee the majority of the time I wasn't expecting to see it as much. I don't believe the defensive staff did either.
