My first year in Maryland, when I was working outside of DC, my mom sent a king cake to work. I told everyone in my office about the tradition, and they all thought it was cool -- except for this one wacko, anitsocial dude that everyone hated -- and we had a lot of fun eating bits of it all day and waiting to see who would get the baby. NO ONE got the baby. My coworkers thought I'd made it up. I complained to my mom that she'd sent me a defective king cake. Then over a year later, after I told my mom not to send the king cake to work after the no baby/every-on-thinks-I'm-playing-a-joke-on-them fiasco, the anti-social guy was fired, and we found the baby next to his computer when we were scavanging his office for furniture and supplies. F***er.

No, but the people in South Central L.A. are always looking for a good excuse to take the day off.

It's a good day for some carnitas, lomo chipotle, and just for tiga, some birria. If you like seafood, then try some huchinango or pescado pirata. La Perlita will be busy today. :thumb:

You know ma country bumpkin azz doesn't even know what all that stuff is. :hihi: My parents used to get so perturbed with my sister and me when they'd take us to a restaurant to eat out once in a blue moon and we'd want to order HAMBURGERS! :dis:

My kids are 9 & 12 and once and a while say, "Dad, let's go eat some lobster". My darlings are spoiled spoiled, but that's why daddy and mommy work.......right??:hihi:

Well, I would rather have some cracklins, boudin, crawfish baguettes, beignets and chicory, and maybe a little softshell poboy w/ ettoufe'.:thumb:

Not much better than a softshell crab poboy with a little ettoufe' dribbled on top of the softshell!

    Okay country bumpkin

    Here's a translation.

Carnitas=Shredded Seasoned Pork (mmmmn, my favorite!)
Lomo chipotle=Roasted pork sauteed w/onions, tomatoes, garlic, & chipotle
    Birria=Goat in spicy red sauce
Huchinango=Whole red snapper (awesome with some mango salsa)
Pescado Pirata=A whole catfish fried and topped with seasoned sauce

Now if Cali Girl can try some cajun specialties, then your c.b. azz can try somethin' a lil' south of the border.

You can keep the Birria. I don't eat goats. I can handle the Huchinango cuz I love me some Red Snapper. I will cut a piece of snapper off while cleaning it and eat it raw sometimes.

Mango salsa....ain't that what the cave man ordered on the Geico commercial?

Now you know us coonasses will eat anything! :thumb:

Have you ever eaten goat bar-b-qued? It's my favorite but don't reheat it.......has to be off the pit. It's not AS good as ribeyes but comparable. If you like pork chops, the chops have much more flavor. :thumb:

    Geeez man! :hihi:

I did have something that must've been kinda like this once but the locals called it "Huchi Momma". :hihi:
