During Saturday’s game at Florida, Harris seemed to hold a different position on the sideline than he’s had in the past. He wasn’t with the group of backup quarterbacks standing near the coaches during offensive possessions.
“I think we know what we have there is a great future, guy who has the talent and ability,” Miles said after the win over Florida. “Maybe we’ll play him a lot in the next game. We just don’t know. It kind of depends on how things mature at the position. If Anthony Jennings continues to get better and better, certainly the transition there would be much different.”
Harris’ grasp of the offense seems to be behind that of Jennings. Miles said experience is the key.
“The more comfort you have with the offense you’re running and the execution you’re about to use, as soon as that becomes comfortable, it becomes comfortable to take snaps and communicate and all of those things,” Miles said. “I think experience fixes the inabilities that youth bring. I think he’ll be fine. How soon? I think soon.”
