agree that teams are overloading the line bigtime creating havoc for our qbs especially but obviously randall can throw vertical as witnessed in the AU game. Thing is they have to allow him to do so or its a no win situation. we can all see that. How many bubble screens or any screens for that matter have been attempted? How many times has the TE or FB been utilized? Those coaches are eons ahead of my football knowledge yet I think these are relevant questions. If JR isnt cutting it in practice and doing the necessary steps to be a leader for NS to start him then he shouldnt put him in in desperate needs when the game is on the line. If he allows him to attempt to win games for him he may as well start him since he's not sending a message by playing him in crunch time. tough call but the coaches have already spoken through their actions. good post btw.
He can but he doesn't. Whenever he sees trouble he takes off running, I know its the OL fault but he just gives up. I don't get it? When he gets in trouble he should try and scramble and still look to pass but he just gives up on it. If the coaches wanted you to run they would of called a designed play called a "QB draw". :dis:
You just don't get it yet. Randall could start and drive us down field (like he did against Auburn) or get sacked 3 times, on his first drive. Or maybe Randall could start and play all game (for once).... but not likely. Russell could come in after Randall (like he has been doing all season) try to do his best and maybe get one or two touchdowns. Russell could start (for the first time ever) and put together three or four touchdowns. But I say Bring in Flynn. He could start and then payow back up, go on gayda! Watch out! <---Only people south of New Orleans know what that means.
As saban said tonight.. Russell cant read a defense and he also seemed to hint that russell doesnt practice very well.. he sure as hell hasnt convinced me in games.. if there was someone better to start at QB, saban would do it.. so get over yourselves.. you arent coaches.. you arent at practice.. you dont know these players or what they know..
no one claimed to be experts yet i do know of some things many others know off the record that coach saban mentions. if you listen to what he implies in his usual press conferences, its obvious certain things are irking him on many levels. Its not about 'reading defenses'....its about doing the necessary work in order to earn the starting position and respect of the team and coaches. If you can't see that, then there's no need to offer your great insight. If you dont think we deserve to offer our thoughts, good for you. Avoid our posts and go to a non-message forum. All messages will be blank and unopinionated, like you. why don't you contribute while you're at it also....
Two words. Work Ethic. One of his QB's has great Work ethic and fair ability. The other has GREAT Talent and no work ethic, which equates to Fair ability. this makes them even. BUT Saban is all about Work ethic so Randall gets the nod on the start. Truthfully I keep telling some people here that stats tell the story and a few of them say "oH but the receivers dropped the ball yadda yadda yadda." :dis: the whole world judges QB's on the same stats so the playing field is even. the same recievers drop Randall's balls that drop Jamarcus' balls. The same offensive line doesn't block for either of them. they are dead even or VERY close in the stats with JR having a slight lead. I think one is 7th in the SEC and the other is 8th? something like that. it's a toss up gang, really it is. would jamarcus play better if he started? I doubt it, if he wanted to start bad enough his work ethic would improve and Saban would start him. Will Randall get more talent? I doubt it. He is probably doing the best he can. I think the reason CNS is frustrated is because he knows JR can do better. He isn't down on Randall because Randall is probably doing the best he can. I think that's all Nick asks. Be your best. Just my .02 cents BTW I dont care who starts. they both suck or play well equally. its a toss up.
First let me say that I believe that Russell should be the starter. However teams are stacking the box against BOTH QB's because neither has shown the ability to be consistant passing the ball, so stopping the run becomes their first priority. If you don't think teams are going to blitz with a redshirt freshman at QB you better think again. If you don't believe that it all starts up front you don't know anything about football. With the blocking we had last week their isn't a QB in college football that would have stood a chance at being successful. Yes we are hurting at QB, maybe just as bad as we are on the OL but you have to look no further back than last year to see what I am talking about. Mauck a very very average QB with a quality offensive line was able to lead us to a championship. You can't run or pass if half the defense is in your backfield at the snap of the ball. LSU's OL got blown off the ball against Gawga and it didn't matter who we had at QB. Yes JR is the future and should start now but unless we block better it will make little difference. You can have all the skilled players in the world on both sides of the ball but if you don't have quality lines in front of them you don't have anything. Most games are won or lost in the trenches whether it makes the ESPN highlight reel or not.
