It appears he wings many things on the offensive side. And your question of why have an OC is a very valid question. Do you really need an OC to rank in the 80-100 range year after year in passing offense?
Bama ranked 76th in passing this year BTW. 69th in 2011. Points more towards Miles is closer to right thank people assume. Bama averaged 19 more passing yards a game than LSU.... 18...
When u win 3 of 4 national championships thats fine, when u lose 3 of 4 bowls its not. Plus if Miles got his passing game up another 10-15 spots he'd probsbly have another championship.
As long as you accept that your bullshit view of what stats "should" be to win a NC are not inline with reality....
right now i believe it's about recruiting and making changes to the offensive side of the ball. the best way to seal the deal with the verbal prospects, and maybe those that haven't made up their mind, is to make significant changes to the offensive coaching staff. we need someone with proven experience at developing qbs and an up and coming offensive coordinator.
As far as I'm aware, Les doesn't make coaching changes until after NSD, and if we are in the market for a new OC we would only be in the beginning stages of a search anyway. Wasn't Bama 11th or so in offense this year? If so, then success isn't a function of called pass vs. run plays. And nobody is going to convince me that Bama's talent is head and shoulders above ours. Les said we would pass more this year, and we have. It's simply a directionless offense with too many chefs in the kitchen between Stud, Krag, Ensminger, and Les. No flexibility or adaptability in what they concoct during the week.
Miles does NOT call plays. He approves plays that are part of the offensive gameplan from week to week, but I think the plays run through him and he has veto power.
