    Statistically, yes.

    Not true...

If RP manages to stay out of trouble, our offense should be frighteningly good next year.

Jimbo's "track record" of developing QB's is overrated, but in general I would say that Jimbo did a good job of developing players regardless. We can't truly judge Crowton on player development yet, but I like what I've seen in the progression of Toliver & Byrd.

I have a feeling those two are starting to click with Crowton's offense... i.e. take what the defense gives you, and perhaps starting to be in sync or on the same page as Flynn. They didn't have the luxury of a healthy Flynn for the early part of the season. Hope their play , and in fact , the team PEAKS around the Arkansas game and beyond.......:D

This season still seems surreal to me; seems like we are in uncharted waters. Surely the pressure on the team will begin to go up, esp. for the last two games of the season as a result of their NC game aspirations. Hope the team continues to focus on their confidence and trust in each other, and not worry as much about outcome. If they do what they are capable of, good things will happen.

LSU is an elite program again. Expected to be in the Top 10 every year. Perhaps this is what feels "different".

Actually it is true. Maybe you missed the play against Alabama where he ran the guy down from behind on a pick from Flynn? Also, if you had ever seen them in practice, you would see it right away.

I'm not saying the guy is slow, but he would not beat many of our skill position players in the 40.

how did this turn into an argument about race?

and statistically in the us, black people are "faster" but not worldwide. look at south american soccer players or european soccer players. most of them can not only keep up with american football players but they can do it for a longer amount of time.

so there, it's a stupid issue. get back to how this season feels different.

Obviously, there's more to being a good tailback than speed. Hester's not the fastest, but he IS fast. Holliday (I call him Warrior in my mind...) IS THE FASTEST, but he's not the best. E. Smith (Florida, Cowboys) was fast, but not fastest. Etc. Etc.

The white/black thing is interesting, isn't it. Have to wonder if sometimes it's not an expectation thing put on these guys when they're very young, and they just develop inside a stereotype. Probably why it took a number of years before we had a LOT of great black quarterbacks in college and the NFL. Guys like Doug Williams et. al. broke the stereotypes, maybe even in young black kids' own minds.

Perhaps there are some similar stereotypes out there with young, fast white kids. They see Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton and the current group of stud RBs and they're all black and the kids equate that with natural phenomenon vs. maybe just stereotyping.

    Sorry - total hijack job.

    Why is race irrelevant...

Black people are faster than white guys. Is that not common sense? Were yall schooled in a brainwashing Cali middle school where everyone runs a 4.61?

Fastest kid in my high school football team was our white second string tailback and first string strong safety.

He was second string TB because he wasn't the BEST. The second fastest guy (black kid who was almost as fast but saw holes and finished runs better) was all-state, I think.

    Or were you being facetious....I can't tell...
