Shreveport is as much a part of Louisiana as any where else. Yes, there is a different culture there than there is in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Houma, etc...But that doesn't make Shreveport part of Texas. Nothing irks me more than when someone says Shreveport isn't really "part of Louisiana." Growing up, I had no freakin clue what Boudin is...who cares.
wow... thats all I have to say. Me and the girl next to me (who is from metarie) were just stunned on how this guy didn't know about practically ANY type of cajun food... we were just confused I guess... especially since we both thought food was a way of life in LA... guess that doesnt apply to up north LA...
Yeah, I know. We understand that Shreveport is still a part of Louisiana, that's pretty obvious. We were just referring to how the culture is more like Texas. That's all.
No offense to anyone from up "north," but as far as I'm concerned.... it ain't LA, per se. Of course it IS part of LA, but they have a lot more in common with MS, AL, AR like loco said.
c'mon people, there are 300,000 people who live in shreveport/bossier city...b/c one person doesn't know what boudin is makes the whole city sin don't let a few bad apples ruin the bunch shreveport supports LSU strong....in fact, correct me if i'm wrong, but Les Miles tour had the most attendance in shreveport...around 700
I grew up in Lake Charles which has a lot in common with Shreveport being close to Texas. I think Shreveport is very much part of LA as Mobile is to Al and Gulfport is to Miss which all have their distinctions(sp) with the rest of their respective states. We(Lake Charles) got the same abuse from the rest of LA as Shreveport does. I sell biotech drugs and travel all across the state, and Shreveport is my 2nd favorite spot b/c of the diehard LSU fans there. This town outside of LA Tech supports LSU 100%. It makes it real easy for me as drug rep when 8 out of 10 drs I call from Shreveport are LSU diehards. Please get off the Shreveport bashing.
As a person who grew up in Bossier City ( For you coonass's Bossier is located across the river from Shreveport ) i am always dissapointed in the way alot of South Louisiana people trash the Northern part of the state. I have ancestors who date back to the Govenor of Louisiana during the civil war and before. I still have family in all parts of the state. I have always been proud of my State and even though i do agree that Shreveport is more conservative and different than South La. i think that is what makes La. special. I lived in Texas for 20 years and it is as diverse a state as you can find. I think that is a good thing. Texas people seem to embrace it. I would expect this kind of thing from Auburn fans and other fans but it just seems a little petty from Louisiana people to attack each other. I have been a die hard fan of LSU my whole life. Since the days of Charlie Mc and i can tell you many Shreveport/Bossier and NW LA. people feel the same way. LSU belongs to every La resident and to say disrespectful things because someone doesnt know what Boudin is. Just doesnt seem right. Lets keep the trash talk focused where it belongs : USC, Auburn, and anyone else that gets in the way of our LSU Tigers. My .02 cents anyway Geaux LSU Tigers
It can be part of Louisiana, but it ISNT part of Cajun Country... and THAT is what makes Louisiana special... So you are a parto f the state, just not a contributing part...
Kind of like you're a part of this site, just not a "contributing" part.. :hihi: I've told you several times, if you come over and cut the grass and weed eat, I'll pay your donation so you can be a "contributor" to TigerForums......
