I am pretty sure North La people pay taxes too. New Orleans people might disagree with you too since they are not really considered Cajun either. And i think New Orleans is also part of what makes La special. These are the kind of arrogant statements i am talking about. If you are born within the boundaries of the state then you are from La. Period. I think we all pull for Louisiana State University. Not Cajun Country University.
If you didn't see that I was joking in the post, then I am sorry... Evangel and West Monroe... both WAY up north are LARGE reasons for LSUs success... I was only kidding... I was quoting "the typical Cajun" As far as crawfish goes, my IQ continues to drop just reading his stuff... Again, when I become a full-time student, I will contribute... not much an un-employed high school student can do huh?
Shreveport is important for LSU's success BUT DON'T GET CARRIED AWAY WITH IT. Shreveport produces a few decent propsects each year, nothing more & the sum of all the small parts (like Shreveport) add up for LSU. Yet, LSU's strength is from New Orleans to near the Lafayette area concentrated in New Orleans & BR with a long arm stretched to Houston via Interstate 10. I suppose LSU will continue to hit Houston regularly like a good pickpocket. Visit lsusports.net & download the Annual Media Guide You'll see EXACTLY where the players come from. You'll be amazed at the statistics. It was a very interesting read. See for yourself!!!
WOW, I can't belive this thread. I wish I was in any part of La. right now. atleast yall speak english ( most of you)
I think the Shreveport/Bossier City area has gotten a bad rap.... ....and I was always one of those who was in on it. When I was young we visited Shreveport and I was amazed at the number of people wearing cowboy hats, the lack of good food, etc. But like everything, places and people change due to migration of people, idea's, customs, etc. Many people from the southern part of the state have moved up there and brought with them the things totally unique to southern LA. More SE LA restaurants also started opening up and Shreveport is much, much different than it was back in the 60's when I first visited.
Also, as another poster pointed out, New Orleans was not Cajun at all back then either, I had never eaten Boudin or even heard of it until I went to USL. And now my darn nickname is CajunDave here in Atlanta due to others misconceptions of Louisiana. What makes Louisiana so unique is the different distinctive cultures as people from N.O., the SW, the River Parishes, the Lower Terrebone parishes, Lake Charles and NW La. The meshing of these cultures over time is what makes LA one of the most fabulous places on earth IMO.
Try being exiled out of Louisiana for a while....I GARONTEE you would be glad to be anywhere within the state border! :geauxtige
I grew up in North Louisiana, lived a long time in Baton Rouge, and in New Orleans. Have travelled all 64 parishes. Have lived in Central Texas for 15 years and have seen over 230 of the 254 Texas counties. The diversity of both states would amaze you. Hopefully, years will convince you how uninformed you are. Good luck.
I think some of you are getting a little too defensive about this. I only saw one poster bash Shreveport, the rest were just harmless comments about the difference in cultures.
