I'm a computer idiot and have a problem.

Out of nowhere, I had a window pop-up telling me how to get rid of pop-ups. It won't go away can't close it or nothing. Plus more and more pop-ups about porn, etc keep opening up. None of which will go away without me "End Task" 'ng IE.

I've run Spybot and it won't get rid of it. Any ideas on what to do.

Speak english I'm a computer idiot.

Is it a little "Windows Messaging" box?

No, it's a full window just like looking at Tigerforums. But it doesn't show drop down menus at the top or the buttons or the web address or box. nothing just full screen of the text. if any of that makes sense.

every few minutes a new window pops open linking to more porn.

Hmmm...your best bet may be to force a re-boot. That's a weird thing to have happen. You may want to look at the cookies and see if you have any porn ones. Does anyone else use the computer besides you?

Well, it's most likely spyware that isn't being detected. There are a couple of things you can try:

    1) To close the window, you can click and hold ALT and then click F4... (so that ALT is held down when F4 is pressed). This will simply close the top window (or program) but not fix the problem.

    2) do a search for the name of the porn site and spyware on Google.com. For instance if it takes you to bigwhoppers.com, do a search for "bigwhoppers.com spyware" (without quotes) on Google.com. There might be a removal tool available.

    3) Run antivirus if you haven't already.

    4) If all else fails (i.e. there is no removal tool), you can go into MSCONFIG and stop whatever spyware it is from starting up when you start your computer. To do this:
-Click the START menu on the bottom left of your screen
    -Click RUN
    -Type in msconfig
    -Click OK
-Click on the STARTUP tab up top
-Try to find the spyware in that list and uncheck it
    -Reboot

NOTE: if you can't find the spyware in that STARTUP list, you can unselect everything and just do a process of elimination; unchecking one box then restarting, checking to see if it worked (if it didn't, recheck the box you unchecked) and keep doing that until it is fixed.

I've been having that happen to my system as well. I just ran ad-aware and it was fixed.

Another nice little program is CWShredder

    http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html

It is free and caught a highjacker that spybot and adaware both missed.

It is sad that I have to run a firewall, anti virus and 3 anti-ad/spy programs. Just to keep junk of my machine.
