If LSU and Oregon win out, I don't see OU jumping either LSU or Oregon in the polls, but I could be wrong. As for now, I think Herbie has it right for a change. 1. LSU 2. Oregon 3. Oklahoma 4. Kansas 5. Mizzou That seems about right and the race should be considered very tight.
Yeah of all the one loss teams...okla has the worst loss (colorado)....so if we win out there will be no problem.
i understand what you're saying there, sonny. it's ridiculous that the NCAA does not step up and state that the only championship recognized by the NCAA is the BCS championship (or whatever they want to use). <start rant>i don't understand why people who do not work for the media (read as Associated Press) keep validating the split national championship crap. The AP created the AP National Championship game in 2003 so USC could have national glory because they couldn't stand that their precious USC to not have a title that year. the only year this was done was 2003. there was not AP National Championship in 2004, 2005, or 2006 - nor in years before that. In fact, the BCS championship game was the national championship game starting in 1998. it was created to stop split championships which were rampant from 1924 - 1997. The AP's gift of a game to USC in 2003 was disruptive to the championship system and sets us back over 10 years. i'm not saying the BCS is perfect, but it is the establishment in place to determine a champion in college football each year. i just get tired of hearing about LSU sharing the championship with USC in 2003. we got the crystal football that year, not USC. period. </end rant>
If Oklahoma wins out, they will have beat a top ranked Kansas, and the already beat a #5 Mizzou, and the name Sooner will get votes from the humans. Hide and watch. I hope you are correct, but when it comes to the BS...I mean BCS I don't have any faith.
While I agree with what you're saying, the AP champion for just about every year since the BCS was started has also been the BCS champion. The AP has always given this award, but it just so happened in 2003 that the AP disagreed with the BCS, and that's where the controversy started. At the National Championship ceremony in Tiger Stadium in Feb. or March of 2004, we received a number of other "National Champions" awards that aren't recognized as a true national championship. The BCS championship should be the only recognized championship. It's what the conferences agreed to, and they should be held to it.
Most fans that I know.. disregard the AP championship. If it comes down to a team getting left out in the cold -- the ONLY way to choose is by strength of schedule IMO.
