I'm worried that Uk will be real pumped up. Didn't we crush them like 49-0 last year? The next 4 weeks are gonna tell us a lot about this team. If we come out undeafeated, I think we're obviously #1.

I am still trying to figure out why Herbstreit would choose to bump LSU to #1 based on today's showings. It doesn't make much sense to me. Do I think LSU should be #1? Sure.

Why do I say that? USC has done nothing to earn it. They were not defending champs, so being the preseason number one was a projection of their talent. It was not based on anything concrete. Through the first four weeks of the season, I felt LSU had shown enough evidence on the field that they warranted the top spot (beating VT and USCe specifically).

USC had done little to say they should "lose" the top spot at that point in my view, but instead I felt LSU had done enough to "take" it from them.

    Now for today.

We saw LSU struggle mightily with a vastly inferior Tulane team on the road, but for all intents and purposes it was as much of a home game as you can hope for when not in Baton Rouge. It was a game of comical errors. Penalties, sacks, turnovers, and sloppy play marred the Tigers chance to dominate the Greenies. They did however put them away in the second half.

USC struggled to dispatch a very gritty Washington team on the road. They had similar errors, turnovers, and breakdowns, but prevailed in the end over better competition in a true road venue.

And that is what changes your mind? That is what bumps LSU to number one?

Okay then. I just don't get it.

I'm sure Herpies didn't see our first half and was probably basing his decision on the final score and the fact that USC won by only three against an unranked opponent. If he does move LSU to 1 you better believe the very first chance he gets to put USC back, he will.

I think that Herbie is trying to say SC can't win a NC with JDB without calling him by name.

Just trying to read between the lines!

That, plus it's in Lexington (last time we were there = Bluegrass miracle, right?) AND it's sandwiched between UF and AU. Definitely a trap game if we get past UF.

I disagree with your assessment of UW as gritty... This is a team that seemed to try to NOT to move the ball at all costs.

190 yards of offense. 24 points.

USC managed to dominate a team, but barely win. I do not understand how that is possible.

Washington is just horrible. If USC was playing a good team today they would of lost. They just weren't looking sharp. You might be able to say the same for us though. I agree with the long post, I don't know why Herby decides to put us at #1 now. I had us at #1 when we crushed VT. Then our win over SC pretty much confirmed it to me.

All this Ranking stuff is irking the hell out of me. Nevertheless, I am concerned about the obvious PAC 10 bias and how it may affect us and the SEC overall. Talk about crazy? Win a close one in the SEC and you may drop. Lose in the PAC 10 and move UP into the top 10??? Finally, while heavily favored LSU may have won against a "lesser" opponent in Tulane, USC was equally favored to win EASILY against the Huskies, yet the game wasn't decided until the last 35 seconds. So IMHO, if it goes our way, take the move to #1 and and defend it like there's no tomorrow, cause if we lose, there probably won't be one !!!!!!!!! :po:

Mustyburger couldnt find his ass with night vision googles, a map, a compass and a rack of deer horns!

He just keeps feeling that USC hand slideing money into his front pocket and he just keeps opening his mouth.
