This is why Herbie put LSU #1. He always hypes USC. With LSU struggling in the first half against Tulane he was hyping USC as the best team in college football. Once USC stunk it up and did not recover, just hung on for the win, he had no choice. LSU shut out Tulane 24-0 in the second half. The Trojans continued to play poorly in the second half of their game.

    Therefore: LSU #1 this week.

I don't think the polls will reflect this. But I'm guessing it will be close to a split vote. Maybe I'm dreaming. I really don't care. I just want LSU to beat Florida.

If each LSU player wins his individual battle next week on every play then LSU wins!

USC had a down game. I think we are better than USC BUT dont EVEr under estimate USC like I see EVERYONE here do. They are better than the pac 10 and when they play out of the pac 10 they usually win and win big. Not saying this USC team could do that just looking back at past Pete C teams and if you do so honestly, well the win lose colum speaks for itself. Dont get me wrong I am certainly no USC fan, just trying to be realistic.

if the Tigers were to play Florida or USc like they played Tulane... well it wouldnt be hard to figure out what would happen. many times teams like LSU and USC don't play their best agaisnt lesser opponenets, they play down to the opponenets level so to speak, which is scary cause it can bite them in the butt.

BUT USUALLY when WE or a team like USC plays another team like Florida or such, they play with a bit more in their gut cause they figure there is more on the table.

    Re: Herpie strikes again

Oh I agree, but i don't understand why he picked this week to move us ahead. Why not last week after we beat USC(east) and the condums played yet another crap team. Or after the VT win, LSU looked like a freakin machine that couldn't be stopped.

My point is that Herpie is absolutely clueless. Last year he picked Miami and ND in the NC game. This year he's up USC and OU's A$$es and neither of them look that good. I just wish I would have chosen broadcasting as my profession, I can easily sound this stupid on TV. :dis:

We have some major games ahead of us. Florida, Auburn, Kentucky... and the list goes on. LSU needs to tighten their jocks and come to play for the rest of the season. This is exactly why I love the SEC.

On the other hand, if every LSU player would win his individual battle on every play against the Kansas City Chiefs, we'd beat them too, wouldn't we?

This demonstrates one of the biggest problems with both major polls.

I'm pretty sure all Herbie saw was the final score of the LSU/Tulane game. (Since he was on a plane from Eugene, OR to Seattle, WA at the time the Tigers and Greenies were playing.)

So he didn't see a pretty ugly Tiger performance.

He did see all of USC's ugly performance, since he called that game for ABC.

So, without all the facts, he moves LSU to #1 and USC down to #2.

Not saying LSU shouldn't have been #1 to begin with, just pointing out the trouble with the polls.

In all reality, who really cares if we're ranked #1 or #2?? By my estimation, as long as you're either 1 or 2, it's all the same--you STILL have two finish in the top 2 to play for the BCS title.

Quite frankly, I DON'T CARE if we're ranked #1 during the regular season...I only care if we're #1 AFTER THE BOWL GAMES.

The trouble with the polls, IMO is that they come out WAY too early--so early that you really haven't seen enough of ANY team to realistically say they need to be sloted "where ever" until October anyways. I mean, take a look at Michigan!

    Re: Herpie strikes again

This reminds me of Trev Alberts for some reason.
If I may take the phrase, This is why they play the game and change it to
this is whey we watch gameday!
These people love controversy, it is why people watch these broadcasting
shows and probably why some people prefer college football and like the system, I'm not one of them.

Some of them love to be stupid and I believe Herbie is at the top of the list.
