Playing three very tough, ranked SEC games all on the road, it is only realistic to see that LSU might lose a couple. It is tough to win on the road in the upper tier of the SEC. He is only being pragmatic to pick LSU out of the top five. If he picked them out of the top-10, it would be suspicious, of course.
First of all, anyone who watches ESPN could have predicted Herbstriet's top 5. Second, who cares!! If LSU plays like we think they are capable, they will be right were we want them when the rankings matter.
ESPN is more entertainment than it is sports these days. Notre Dame is going to be there because they sell tickets and boost TV ratings. The same thing goes for USC. O$U will be there until Texas beats them and Notre Dame will be there until Penn State beats them.
You gotta love how every analyst that doesn't have LSU in their top 5 list loses all credibility and is a moron. Is it just me or does this forum seem to have way too many homers?
Last year LSU didn't get any preseason respect. Why? They had a new QB. Although not totally inexperienced, he didn't have a full season under his belt where the reigns were his. The difference between LSU last year and USC this year is that LSU had RB's with experience returning and USC has WR's with experience returning. I see no reason why USC should be more hyped this year than LSU was last year. I can't wait until McFaddin hangs 200+ yards on them next year in Fayetteville and they lose to the Hawgs.
We were a preseason top 5, picked by many to win the NC last year. What are you talking about? Because it's hype - it doesn't have to be based on sound logic.
