He apparently still is not ready to commit and it looks like he has put it off until Thursday. LSU coaches are visiting with him today and OU coaches will be visiting him Wednesday. Denton's assistant coach said he will be announcing Thursday. C'mon Herman, I can't take the wait.

    How does this work?

Who makes the decision that OU gets to visit Herman last and not us?

Herman makes that decision I'm sure..., but in this case it's probably just a scheduling issue.

...and what gives with the mods deleting posts? We can't use pictures to make a joke now (not porn or anything)..?

I sure hope that Saban and company can shut him down today, so that tomorrow's visit with the OU staff will be only to inform them in person that they loss out. Got my fingers crossed, because I look forward to watching Herman "The House" Johnson and Big Ernest Jones playing on the same offensive line at LSU in the near future. If it happens, they'll have to rename LSU's offensive line the "meat wagon."

I don't think that the delay necessarily works in LSU's favor here, and I hate to let Stoops & Co. have the last word with Herm. I think the distance to school factor may be giving him second thoughts. Denton is considerably closer to Norman than to BR.

I had been hearing all along that he was heading to LSU, that Early Doucet had convinced him to be a Tiger, etc. He is apparently on the bubble or he wouldn't have delayed his announcement.

Of course, he may still choose LSU and I hope he does, since we can definitely use another high-quality OL signee this year.

I don't like to read too much into how much time a recruit takes to announce.. these kids love the spotlight. And given that for most kids, especially most linemen, this is the most spotlight they're going to get for a long time, they like to bask for a while. Don't really blame them.

I wouldn't doubt for a sec that Herman and Saban are on the same page.. Herman knows there's a schollie for him, Saban knows he's comin to BR. Herman just wants to announce a date and time, get everyone interested, and have the big public speech.

    My two cents.

Here's an article containing some info on Herman:

Recruiting heating up even for committed

We also had a chance to catch up with Herman Johnson’s mother last night. According to his mother, Herman was staying away from the house trying to avoid coaching staffs who aren’t willing to give up on recruiting him.

Johnson decided against making an announcement yesterday. That could only be good news for the Sooners as some conflicting information is surfacing on big Herman. Some say Johnson has already contacted the LSU coaches to let them know he is going to attend LSU. His mother said no decision had been made.

The OU coaching staff will get one last crack at Johnson before a scheduled announcement on Thursday. I’d put the Sooners chances of landing Johnson at 40 percent right now. This could be another contest with LSU where the Sooners almost pull even but fall just short after a tremendous effort.
