Not really. It was a rain game with a lightning delay and it was just sloppy. Nick's LSU teams had tendency to get off to a slow start inopening games, not sure why, but that and the weather made a really ugly game of it. We never really thought we would lose the game, but it was embarrassing not to post the points that we were capable of. The Tennessee game will be big. But we wonder why our quarterbacks are widely perceived to be unproven, yet Tennessee's quarterbacks are said to be top-notch. I don't know much about your starter, but Clausen played here for three years and is a fine individual, still he couldn't get above #4 on the depth chart here. An injury at QB would be kind of unpleasant for you fellers, wouldn't it?
Man, that game was a heartbreaker for me. Our kicker, Alexis Serna, went on to be a semi-finalist for the Groza too. I'm just wondering why he couldn't play like a Groza contender that night. As far as our QB's go, Clausen has been practicing hard and is now nearly as good as Ainge. He doesn't have quite the same physical capabilities as Ainge, but he does have a superb knowledge of the playbook. He just bullet the passes like Ainge, or throw the deep ball quite as well. There's been talking of brining Rick on as a coach after this season, for that reason as well as recruiting Jimmy Clausen. Ainge getting injured would suck, but Rick should prove to be a viable alternative next season. I think we have the talent at WR to create a definitley legit passing threat, but we will still be focused on pounding the rock. Hopefully Riggs will look like he did in the SECCG.
I was gonna say something about UGA. It's kind of weird this season how it compares to last season. Last season, it was supposed to be UGA with an edge on UF to win the SEC East and probably the SEC overall, and UT was pretty much relegated to the third spot. All until we won in Athens. This season, it seems the media mostly is giving the edge to UT over UF for the East while UGA is not being highly considered for the East title; They are flying under the radar just like we did.
As an LSU fan, I tend to dislike everyone else but LSU....which I am sure you can tell is how I come off. But I actually like Richt. I think he is actually under-rated as a coach.
Myself as well. I have a great deal of respect for Richt. This season will cement his status as one of the nation's top coaches if he can come out swining and compete for the East.
I don't like any other SEC teams either hahh But I do agree that Georgia will be bad this year... I know the people here like them, b/c they HATE Meyer and Fulmer, But UGA lost a lot of it's experience and leaders in Greene and Pollack.. If they couldn't do it last year, why would they this year?
