HI Vol423, thanks for stopping by! Both teams are good. I think LSU will win a close one, on the strength of our defense. We only gave up 7 pts to Auburn, and we didn't have our offense straightened out, no running game. We gave up 23 to Fla., but on fumbled punts, fumbled kickoffs, we played real poor and repeatedly gave them a short field. I'm not counting on that happening again. If our running game does not go, and it may not, Tenn. will stack the box and dare us to beat them with the pass. That we may do. We don't just have one good receiver, we have 3 with Bowe, Davis and Doucet, plus the freshman LaFell. We also have tight ends that can catch. It is possible for us to win with the pass. QB can get them the ball anywhere on the field if he has a little time. Our special teams have let us down on occasion, I hope we have corrected those problems as they play a BIG part in every game. Welcome to our forum, hope you enjoy the week, and I look forward to a competitive SEC contest next Saturday (and injury free).
So you, Mr. Fan, watches a couple of Vol games on the tube and sees ways to exploit their weaknesses. Yet, you hope that Miles, successful Division I head football coach with 2 weeks to break down film and prepare for the contest "is smart enough" to exploit them. The size of your ego is surpassed only by your incredible naiveity.
...and your lack of punctuation! :hihi: It's good to see friendly opposing fans on the board. Welcome!
There should be no excuses for our offense not to move the ball and score some points against UT's defense. They are very average on defense this year. I hate bye weeks ... is it gameday, yet?
Anyone who thinks LSU will blow out UT is delusional. Miles has only beat Alabama on the road so until he proves he can win on the road no one should expect a easy win.
Well, for one, Buster had never, ever, returned a punt in his life. Also, I would imagine Miles was hesitant to unnecessarily expose one of his best skill players to an injury. Punt returning was a serious problem for the Tigers and I like to credit Miles for coming up with a solution.
It is foolish to think we should blow out top SEC teams on the road. It was difficult for Saban to do, and it's going to be hard for Miles. In fact, it's hard for anyone coaching in the SEC. That's what makes the SEC so great. But we should be able to score more than 10-13 points against this defense.
I expect a defensive ballgame without a lot of points being scored. I'd put the total at around 30. LSU! 17 UT 13
you got that backwards. they'll drop back in coverage just like UF did and have 7 guys sitting in a zone guarding 4 making it hard as hell for jr to complete a pass. As far as UT, Im worried about cutcliffe using the tight ends early and often and the rbs out of the backfield which he likes to do. Should be a tough test for our linebackers. that 6'8 dude could be a nightmare. reminds me of the dude from UGA, pope.
