Local World War II Veteran Fights Homeowner's Association - wtvr "its not about the flag, its about the pole." F that. Yet another reason why I hate HOAs.
i hate them too, my parents have had to spend ungodly amounts of money on stupid HOA rules in their neighborhood in Colleyville TX.
If I were that dude I would paint my house hot pink with lime green trim. Why are HOA's always filled with such tools?
1. no big deal. homeowners associations are jerks 2. jesus F christ, if half that war story is true, thnat guy is a mother****ing badass of the highest order.
I have an HOA that made me take down my LSU flag. Just like Sgt. York here, the flag itself wasn't the issue, it was the manner in which it was displayed. Once I put it on the correct type of pole, no more problems. This isn't any outrage. Dude signed papers agreeing to certain rules when he moved into that neighborhood. If he didn't like them, he should have moved into an unrestricted community with immigrants running a fruit stand out of the house next door, a dude who runs a shade tree mechanic shop across the street with 7 broken down cars parked on the street, and the lady who thinks her toilet bowl planters in tne front yard are adorable. Stop being a crybaby and put the flag on the allowable flag pole.
bs. the man is 90 years old and has earned his right to fly the flag. grant him an exemption that stipulates that the flagpole comes down when the property changes hands. its only there as long as he is, and at his age, its not gonna be for the next 50 years. let the man proudly fly the colors he fought for.
That's actually a viewpoint I didn't think of. However, what's the criteria for getting an exemption? If you do it for him, do you have to do it for everyone?
no. its a one time exemption for that property with conditions the exemption does not pass down with the property. it can be written in and easily filed on the deed to the property if needed.
