exactly.... Someone needs to come out and say "hey we know the PAC 10 sucks, but we REALLY REALLY like USC. and until they start losing, we are forever going to vote them #1" something to that effect...
Ahhhh, but the thread began to digress in the direction I took. Not hijacking, just going with the flow. Urban Meyer has just as much pressure to succeed as USC does. Alex Smith was a special athlete. Maybe Chris Leak will bail him out.
This is good stuff right here. I saved this to a word document so I could throw it in their faces at the end of the year.
My "pernt" on the Urban Meyer crap is that he is an opportunist, there's nothing wrong with that. He stays long enough to avoid the pitifals of long-term recruiting and cashes in a better job. He's going have pull more than 8-4 in Gainesville to be considered a success because of his introductory accolades. Florida is not the great sleeping giant. There has always been talent in that state and Florida State and Miaim have not always been the powers clean up this talent. The history of Gator football has "this year's model" coaches running the program with Zook-like success. Steve Spurrier's are rare, Florida will be chasing Georgia for a long time in the SEC East. As for LSU's hire, I'm jaded toward Miles because he is the first coach LSU has hired that was my first choice, but the man did wonders in a place where wonders do not happen. Give Urban the spot light, fawn over him, but do not short change Les Miles. Four years at Oklahoma State with a winning record is a serious accomplishment. Les Miles was a proven winner at a loser school.
The only team I have a problem with them being ahead of us is UGA. They lost their overrated star quarterback and the heart of their defense in davis, thurman, and pollack.
I agree, but also with the addition of Virginia Tech. Beamer is a good coach and they are consistantly a pretty good team but not better than us. I think I said this before, but we get bashed because we are unproven at QB. Marcus friggin Vick is as unproven as it gets. Beyond all of his off the field troubles, he has the enormous pressure of living up to his big brother.
In there defense, I have been hearing really good things about Wyoming for a couple of months now. May not deserve top 25, but I have a feeling they will have a pretty good season.
