I gotta go with that. We all have an idea of exactly how tough it is to not lose a single game. The best LSU team that we've ever seen couldn't even do it. A coach really has to have an impact on his players when they are that successful so that they do not let their guard down and rest on their laurels. And before anyone brings up the mid-major nonsense again, it's all about playing against an equal level of competition. To go to a school that is not used to having a dominant football program and make them undefeated in your second year is remarkable, regardless of conference. Let's just hope that Miles possesses [sic] those intangibles that intsill the type character in a team that produces a championship mentality.
Well if you remember, VT's bread and butter last season was their defense and they have the same head coach that will bring back the same defensive squad and schemes. That's probably why they are ranked ahead of us. If Saban was returning I could guarantee we'd be placed ahead of VT, but now we not only have questions at QB, but we could very well have a drop in defense. It's not just about the qb's here.
UF's offense wasn't the problem last year Their defense was.... Until they fix that, they will continue losing 3-4-5 games a year
I don't know, I'd say their offense was pretty limp at times. I take that back, it seemed that they couldn't hold onto a lead. They'd get up early and just go limp in the fourth quarter on offense and yes their lack of defense allowed opponents to overtake them late in the game. Who really cares, as long as it continues that way. :thumb: :hihi:
Stewart Mandell has a terrible record over the last few seasons picking LSU. So, he's a Florida "bandwagon chaser" in 2005 & has drank full measure from Urban's punch bowl. We'll see this year about his picks. Anyway, not to have LSU in your top 10 is nothing short of idiocy in 2005. Thus, Stewart can be dismissed as the know-nothing fool that he is. SI's poor ranking may affect LSU in the AP poll (above #6). We'll see. Stewart's award winning fellatio performance in his article Florida & Urban Meyer is nothing short of a spectacular slurpfest :dis: Sure, Urban's Fun 'N Gun mutation (Spread Option Offense) will rack up points utilizing Florida speed & talent (they always have it from great recruiting) against those teams who can't provide pressure in the middle & match Florida's quickness (LSU & TN are not among those teams & will shut FLA down with extreme prejudice). Even better, LSU will have a Rocky Top blueprint available to drop a few turds into Urban's Punch Bowl in October at Tiger Stadium. Urban's system worked great at Utah & put points on the board. It won't work in the SEC until Florida garners a great offensive line & a matching rushing attack. They'll remain one-dimensional & will be SEC East also-rans. SEC defenses have been getting too sophisticated (thank Saban) to get beat by one-dimensional teams. Auburn may even upset Florida this year, who knows. When Florida marches into Tiger Stadium, they'll have enough experience with the "Urban Myth" system to put on a good show. And, it won't do them any good because they cannot beat LSU with any one-on one mismatches, nor can they outquick or overpower an attacking & sophisticated LSU dee. I can't wait until the Florida game & I hope AP puts Florida in Top 10 or even Top 5. Expect this Florida situation to get ugly & get quickly out of hand. The Florida hype & the "Urban Myth" is akin to an enormous erection. Like I told my gal the other night when she was lookin' soooooo hot. Stand back, sweetie, I'm not sure how big this thing (this gator) is gonna get, I've been feeding it blondes all summer :geauxtige LSU! :helmet: :champs:  ldskule: :geauxtige LSU! :helmet: :champs:  :geauxtige :crystal:
The best thing about these polls is that of the human polls the only 2 that matter are the Harris' and coaches' polls. All of the others are simply window dressing. I'm so glad that I didn't have to include the aP poll in the ones that matter. :hihi:
And you might think that Tennessee and Florida are that better than Georgia as well based on all the hype. Georgia is quietly sitting in the bushes, while Urban, SS and Phat Phil get their media strokes. Georgia doesn't have to play LSU and Alabama in Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa like Florida and Tennessee do. Don't be too shocked if both LSU and Georgia end up in the Georgia Dome.
Anythings possible. Remember 2003? Hang on there one sec, the jury is still out on this defense. Remember, we don't have our defensive master mind anymore(Saban), nor do we have our D coordinator. This defense will most likely have a whole new look.
