Let's see, we pass 44 times and run it 30. We throw 15 times on first down and run 15 times on first down. We ran the ball approx. 15 times in the first half with at least 3 of those instances being scrambles by Randall. We threw the ball approx. 17 times in the first half. That doesn't seem to me like they waited to long to try and open up the offense. You can;t blame the coaches for being too conservative in that game.
We were more conservative in that game later on. Maybe Mauck throwing a pick for a TD on the firs tplay from scrimmage and than 2 more pics had some influence on the play calling. He was off most of the day and missed both Claton and Henderson on deep routes when they were open badly. Addai average 6 ypc and Vincent 4.8, maybe we didn't run the ball enough. In the first quarter we ran the ball approx. 10 times and threw 8 passes and 3 of the runs were 2 sacks and a psotive scramble by Mauck. So in reality we threw it more than we passed it. In the second quarter we threw approx. 11 passes and gave up another sack and an interception. We ran the ball approx. 15 times and scored a TD on the drive where Addai ran the ball almost every down except on third down and then for the TD. In the second half we did nurse the lead too much I thought but I also believe since Mauck was off so much that the coaches went conservative.
I cited 3, so learn how to count: Could have had more: Like running to the strong side (Ware's side) ALL game against Troy And yeah, we threw it more against OSU, but the last 15-20 plays we ran were passes, so it balances out: And so you gonna allow your team to lose, because your QB is struggling Dude I know he is the best coach otu there: Some of us LSU'ers need to get out of our fairy tale and understand that he can make a mistake too.
Now you're acting like a jacksass. I never said he is the best coach but your examples were totally wrong. LSU threw the ball early against both oif the teams, more than they ran. And the QB's for bad. And Ware had a pretty good game, but 3 of his tackles were when trailing the play, 2 for loses. Sometimes it's best to run at the best linemen. Especially the ones that can run like he can.
I only cited two because your third example made no sense. What does "Iowa: JaMarcus= 3rd string" mean??? Also, you said in another post that Saban was good enough to win because of his motivation and recruiting which is just a stupid statement to make. So you are telling me that since the NFL doesn't have recruiting, that the Dolphins hired Saban just for his motivational skills? Everyone knows that Saban is the definitional "coach." While certain teams, like Texas, have coaches that are better motivators and recruiters than coach, LSU had a coach in Nick Saban that not only could recruit but could also put together a great game plan and execute it. Nick Saban was the Bill Parcells of college football. Not everyone's best friend, but a guy you knew could coach the hell out of the game.. And BTW, I would love for you to put together a list of coaching errors that Saban committed....I guarentee almost all of them can be attributed some sort of lack of depth, inexperience, or on the field mental mistake...
The thing about JaMarcus is meaning that it was silly to put an inexperienced Flynn in against one of the better defenses in the country in a bowl game. Im sure ya'll will probably have some other sort of reason for this too though.
I think, cgisclair & I aren't trying to say that Saban wasn't a talented coach - just that he wasn't as perfect as some people will remember him as because he won us a national championship. Now that Saban is gone, it's easy to overgeneralize things and say - Saban was great or Saban made lots of bad calls, but think back to while he was actually here. There were fans complaining about his decisions & there were fans saying that he was God. That's the truth of the matter. Some things he did were great, but he wasn't perfect.
When it comes to that whole Parcells thing: Again I'll say... we will see how it works in the NFL when he doesn't have the #1 recruiting class to work with every year.
