that is a pretty terrible article. saban is smart enough to know his own agenda? you cant have one otherwise, can you?

the fact people really think saban being an ahole is a ploy and not simply the control freak nature of his core is clueless. he knows no other way and if manipulating the press is the end result then thats a bonus.

    pretty terrible writing throughout.

The article is pretty much saying the same thing you are.

Nick Saban is doing the same thing, but far more cleverly. He isn’t making reporters jump through hoops because he can’t afford a ticket to the circus. He’s doing it to elicit a reaction and, in this case, I think a lot of people are giving him precisely the reaction he wants, without even realizing it.

It’s a common characteristic of large, entrenched institutions to misunderstand how they are perceived by the public. The NCAA is the greatest extant example of this outside of Washington, D.C. But the media sometimes doesn’t get it, either. The media thinks that because it gives information to the public, the public is therefore on the side of media members. Maybe that was so, 30 or 40 years ago. But it’s not so any more. I think Saban has figured that out, or understands it intuitively. I think he knows that the more he makes the media howl, the more a large portion of his core constituency -- Alabama fans -- like to hear the howling. I don’t think that’s just the rabid football fan, either. I think there is a certain pleasure taken in some pretty high places when someone gripes about Saban and his control issues.

saban isnt intuitively doing shiit. hes a genuine ahole who cannot stand to talk to a reporter much less a meddling alumnus gump. he can handle it no other way even if he wanted to. its who he is.

i guess its the same well thought-out agenda he uses to run off his assistants.

the result is a byproduct, plain and simple.

Most logical fans can see the writing on the wall and know its just a matter of time till we start earning that hate. I'm looking forward to that day!

LMAO. I did a page search to see how many times he said it. Can't believe it was only the one time.

Sounds like someone from the admin maybe made a call to him and very kindly suggested a little damage control.

Then all the times he said he wasnt interested he was lying through his teeth because his family wanted him back in college and so did he.

    Why lie about it.

I'm amazed this thread about Saban's treatment of the media, witten by a virtually unknown writer, has drawn seven pagesof posts. why is Saban's attitude toward the media and such even news? After all isn't he the same coach who blew off the President of the United States awhile back?
